Emerald Fennell's latest film Saltburn has been confirmed have its international premiere at the 67th BFI London Film Festival.

It has been also confirmed that the film will receive its world premiere on Wednesday, October 4 at the Southbank Centre’s Royal Festival Hall with several preview screenings taking place simultaneously at select cinemas across the UK.

The announcement means that fans not attending the London Film Festival will be able to watch the movie over a month before it's released in UK cinemas on November 24 through Margot Robbie's LuckyChap Entertainment.

Saltburn tells the story of privilege and desire amongst an aristocratic family in mid-2000s England.

Oliver Quick (Barry Keoghan) is a student struggling to find his place at Oxford University when he finds himself drawn into the world of young aristocrat Felix Catton (Jacob Elordi).

When Felix invites Oliver to his family's eccentric estate Saltburn, he finds himself experiencing a summer never to be forgotten. Rosamund Pike, Richard E. Grant, Alison Oliver, Archie Madekwe and Carey Mulligan round out the cast, with Oscar winner Fennell (Promising Young Woman) having written and directed the project.

"I'm honoured that our film is able to open this year's BFI London Film Festival," Fennell said.

"It is a festival that inspired me so much growing up, one that I followed excitedly from my bedroom on the other side of London. It feels extra-special that Saltburn, this very British tale of excess, is able to make its international debut at the wonderful BFI."

Kristy Matheson, BFI London Film Festival director, added: "As soon as the credits rolled on Saltburn, it was clear we'd met our Opening Night film. Academy Award winner Emerald Fennell returns with an expertly crafted and exhilarating thrill ride of a film that showcases an enormous depth of UK talents in front of and behind the camera.

"With its exceptional performances, delicious plot twists and a soundtrack of early 21st century pop bangers, this hugely ambitious film immediately stole our hearts and we can’t wait to share it with audiences in London and across the UK this October."

Saltburn will premiere in cinemas on November 24, while the BFI London Film Festival runs from October 4 to October 15.
