Dan Stevens stars in a first look at his new horror movie Cuckoo.

Euphoria star Hunter Schafer appears with Stevens in the upcoming film, which recently impressed critics with its premiere at the Berlin International Film Festival due to its shocking body horror and relentless gore.

The enigmatic teaser promises lots of gruesome twists and turns, as Gretchen (Schafer) and her family move into a remote community where she gets a job working for a mysterious resort.

Gretchen soon discovers that the resort, and her boss Mr König, are hiding some terrifying secrets — and Mr König is intent on bringing Gretchen's family into the fold.

"I'm giving you the chance to be of use in our great quest for preservation," Dan's character Mr König hauntingly warns Gretchen at one point.

The horror movie also features Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery's Jessica Henwick, Into the Badlands actor Marton Csokas and Àstrid Bergès-Frisbey (King Arthur: Legend of the Sword) in supporting roles. The project comes from writer-director Tilman Singer.

Speaking of Stevens's horror roles, he has cast doubt on revisiting The Guest for a sequel even after reuniting with director Adam Wingard for Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire.

"I don't know is the real answer," he told The Hollywood Reporter about a potential sequel. "There are so many other projects that we are talking about collaborating on as well, and The Guest II might be among them, but I could neither confirm nor deny at this stage.

"David was a great, great character, and I was very, very lucky to get to work on that. But Trapper [his character in Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire] is an equally great character that might have some more mileage in him, and I'd love to see further life in him, so we'll see."

Cuckoo opens in US cinemas on August 9, 2024, but there is no UK release date yet.
