First look: Daddy's Dogs' new Franklin spot started with a half-joking Instagram post

The new Franklin location of popular Nashville hot dog shack Daddy's Dogs started out as a joke.

Kind of.

Daddy's Dogs owner Sean "Big Daddy" Porter said each time he'd sell hot dogs at Franklin's Pilgrimage music festival, he'd have a bunch of folks ask when he was going to open a spot in Williamson County.

"So I was on Instagram literally joking with folks who run The Factory [at Franklin], like, 'you gotta spot for hot dogs?' 'Actually we may.' That’s how it came to be," Porter said.

A couple of hundreds people showed Thursday night for the soft opening of Daddy's Dogs in The Factory. The hot dog stand opened to the public the next day.

It's one of several popular Nashville spots that have opened or plan to open satellite locations at the newly revamped Factory at Franklin. Others include Hattie B's hot chicken, Otaku Ramen and Slim & Husky's pizza.

Daddy's Dogs also plans to open another location in Madison later this year. It now has satellite operations at Nissan Stadium, Geodis Park, 6th & Peabody and Printers Alley.

The original location is in the Nations, at 5205 Centennial Blvd.

The menu at The Factory at Franklin includes a choice of 12 gourmet hot dogs at $8 each. Those include the New York, with kraut and spicy mustard, and the Music City, with bacon, cheddar cheese, onion and barbecue sauce.
