Financial future of Great Falls schools topic of Wednesday meeting

The public is invited to join Schools Superintendent Tom Moore Wednesday evening for an informational meeting on how the future financial landscape will impact Great Falls Public Schools in the coming years. Moore will be joined by Jamie Marshall, Chair of Kids' Education YES, a school funding Political Action Committee (PAC) that has been active in Great Falls since the 1990s.

Marshall will describe the advocacy and community connections that are in the works as we move into 2025 and beyond. Data and trends related to the state of the district will be presented as well.

"Underlying everything shared will be a focus on the needs and opportunities to best honor and support the students and teachers of our community," states a public notice posted on Facebook.

This meeting has been organized by Great Falls Rising, a community activism organization which describes itself as progressive and non-partisan.

"We are trying to let the community know how the grants received during the pandemic were used and portray what was done with one time only funds that cannot be resumed," said Gerry Jennings, President of Great Falls Rising. "This will give the schools the opportunity to show how financially responsible they have been and to give their thoughts for the future."

The meeting will also offer the public information on Great Falls' first charter school and its responsibility to the School Board and the community.

The meeting will take place Wednesday, May 8 at The Episcopal Church of the Incarnation; located at 600 3rd Ave. North in Great Falls. It begins at 6:30 p.m.. Entrance to the church will be the south door from the alley.
