Oscar Piastri Reveals He Won Hungarian Grand Prix with a Fractured Rib
Oscar Piastri posted on X to rejoice in the nearing end of F1's summer break and dropped the bombshell that he fractured his rib in the British Grand Prix two weeks before winning his first F1 race.
Piastri's post highlighted the firsts that accompanied the first half of his sophomore season in F1, including his first win and his first broken bone.

On the morning of July 8th, the day after the British Grand Prix, Piastri was X-rayed to diagnose the fractured rib, and somehow, in the ever-present F1 news cycle, the Australian driver and McLaren were able to keep it under wraps.
Two weeks later, Piastri would go on to win his first Grand Prix in Hungary in a controversial race due to his team's radio messages to his teammate Lando Norris and the potential of a team order not being followed.
This was the third time this year that a driver's injury or surgery was followed up with a win. Carlos Sainz won the Australian Grand Prix a week after missing Bahrain to get his appendix removed. Piastri's teammate Norris won in Miami the week after busting his nose on an Amsterdam party boat.
Piastri currently sits fourth in the championship battle and has only finished outside of the points once in the first half of the season. Last year, Piastri finished the season in ninth place after a very slow start for the McLaren team.
