Dodge's Durango Silver Bullet Is a $113K Hellcat Tribute
Stellantis is leaving behind its era of stuffing supercharged V-8s into just about everything. Not only is the Dodge Charger Hellcat gone, so are the Challenger Hellcat, the Chrysler 300 SRT, the Ram 1500 TRX, and the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk. Only one vehicle still offers the Hellcat Hemi — and, perhaps surprisingly, it's the Dodge Durango. The Hellcat program will soldier on for yet another model year, but the opportunity to take home a vehicle with that engine isn't going to come cheap.
For a starting price of $113,325, not including destination (Stellantis didn't say how much that would run for the 2025 models, but it's $1,595 for 2024 Durangos) Durango buyers can opt for a special edition called (deep breath) the 2025 Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat Silver Bullet. The first special edition trim of a Hellcat Durango, the highlight feature is a silver exterior paint job called Triple Nickel. A satin black hood and tail-mounted "Dodge" logo, red Nappa leather seats, and a wheel color that Dodge calls "Lights Out" pair with a handful of other small details to complete the exclusive look.
The special edition is liable to be the most collectible version of what will likely be the last model year of a notable engine, but the price is no small thing. A 2024 model year Durango Hellcat starts at $97,590, including destination — no bargain by any means, but nearly $20,000 below the starting price of the Silver Bullet. Keep in mind that the base Durango starts around $41,000 — so Silver Bullet buyers are paying a premium of roughly $70,000 for the opportunity to add the Hellcat engine, collectible look, and the various options that separate the two trim levels.
Although it's not quite as old as the Charger and 300C were at the end of their life cycles, the Durango is notably about twice as old as most of its main competitors, and a decade older than its intra-Stellantis rival, the Jeep Grand Cherokee L. The current Durango generation has been on sale since 2011, predating the Hellcat engine itself. Suffice it to say, the Silver Bullet is likely to be among the last of this generation of Durango — and when this Durango goes, the Hellcat engine will presumably be gone with it.
