California Highway Patrol (CHP) investigators arrested four individuals in connection to an organized retail theft ring in Southern California last week. The thieves stole Lego products that were sold from retail stores such as Target, police say. The value of the recovered Legos is approximately $300,000.

Lego products have a near-universal appeal. While we may be partial to the motorsport-inspired products, there is a Lego set to satisfy just about every interest. Lego products are extremely popular, and some of them can also be quite expensive. Unfortunately, this makes them a target for thieves.

However, thanks to the good work of the CHP investigators assigned to the Southern Division Organized Retail Crime Taskforce, there are fewer of these thieves on the streets. On April 9, cops served a search warrant at four locations in Los Angeles and Orange counties. The warrant proved fruitful as hundreds of brand-new Lego sets were recovered.

Investigators learned that the suspects would steal the products from various retail stores and then deliver them to separate fencing locations. These fencing operations would then sell these products for a profit. Three males and a female were arrested and face charges which include organized retail theft, grand theft, and conspiracy to commit a crime.

In the photos that were shared by the CHP, we can see dozens of Lego products that are hard to find through legitimate retailers. That includes the Icons Porsche 911, a 1,458-piece set that can be built as either a Targa or Turbo model. It retails for $169.99 and is currently on backorder on the Lego website. Hopefully getting these Lego thieves off the street will make it easier for people to obtain the Lego sets they want in stores.
