Remember, when it comes to tech and gadgets, you usually get what you pay for. While you will almost certainly find lower-priced (and higher-priced) products competitive to those listed here, there's no need to spend more than you can afford on features you don't need. But don't skimp either; cheap gadgets are cheap for a reason.
Before joining Road & Track, I spent ten years as an editor in consumer technology, writing about groundbreaking technological advancements and the latest gear and gadgets. While now in the automotive world, I still keep my finger on the pulse of the latest products and tech.
Navimow i110N Robot Lawn Mower
The Segway Navimow i110N is, hands down, one of my favorite gadgets I've ever had the opportunity to test. This battery-powered robot mower negates the need for complicated wire boundaries and instead uses Segway's EFLS 2.0 technology, which uses a combination of onboard sensors and GPS location to create, adjust, and precisely mow yards up to one-quarter acre. The unit is incredibly quiet thanks to its clever blade design, which uses three little razor-blade-like blades to precisely slice through grass with a height range from 2.0 to 3.6 inches.
The real selling point here is that there's no need to hire a company or spend any time burying hundreds of feet of boundary wire. After setting up the GPS hub included with the mower, you simply outline your yard using a controller-like experience in the Segway app and create any other obstacle boundaries you may need for your yard. Once set up, it's more or less set-it-and-forget-it, as the mower will go about its business on its own using a schedule you choose.
The mower is weatherproof, smart enough to avoid temporary obstacles, and even mows in different patterns to ensure the best-looking yard possible. The Segway Navimow i110N has saved me countless hours this summer alone, and it's sure to make the man in your life happy, as they can trade mowing the yard for a round of golf or catching an extra baseball game with a brew.
PowerDetect Self-Empty Robot Vacuum
The Shark PowerDetect Pro is another gadget that will save you countless hours a month on the menial task of vacuuming your home. This self-emptying robot features a house-mapping LiDAR camera, a base unit capable of holding months' worth of dirt and debris, and Shark's new NeverStuck technology that helps the unit navigate around even the most chaotic home layouts.
And the best part is, you can control it entirely from your phone using Shark's accompanying app. Want the kitchen cleaned? No problem. How about the living room, kitchen, *and* dining room? No problem. Pick the room(s) you want cleaned, the level at which you want them cleaned, and the Shark PowerDetect Pro will go about its business, sucking up your mess and emptying itself in its home base.
Watch Ultra 2
With a durable 49-mm titanium shell, the new(ish) Apple Watch Ultra 2 is the perfect watch for the modern adventurous man who likes to stay connected. It features the brightest display Apple has ever made for any device, with an always-on retina display to deliver outstanding clarity in all conditions, even transitioning automatically to night mode when the sun drops behind the horizon. The Ultra 2 also features a customizable action button, dual-frequency GPS, and a battery life that spans days.
Whether you're shopping for an adventurer who needs the most capable and robust smartwatch on the market or simply an average Joe who craves the latest tech, the Apple Watch Ultra 2 is the gifting move that can't lose.
Revv 1
The Ride1Up Revv 1 is a moped-style e-bike that features cafe racer design that makes it stand out from the more conventional e-bikes you're probably more accustomed to seeing. This clever piece of battery-powered tech comes with a powerful 1000-watt motor, a top speed of up to 27 mph (depending on what class mode you put it in), and up to 60 miles of theoretical range.
I tested a Revv 1 for a few months, and it was hands-down the most fun I've had on any e-bike, with a comfortable ride that can be tweaked and modded out to your heart's content.
The Revv 1 comes in three versions: FS (full suspension), HT (hardtail), and DRT (dirt). As the names suggest, the FS model has full suspension in both the front and rear, the HT has only front suspension, and the DRT has full suspension with a more robust design catered to off-road adventures. They're a blast to ride and are sure to get you around town without so much as a drop of gas.
Rocky 55-Quart Dual Zone Portable Refrigerator
The BougeRV Rocky Dual Zone portable cooler is the latest portable fridge/freezer from BougeRV. It comes in four sizes (41, 55, 69, and 81 quarts), is made of stainless steel to withstand whatever you throw its way, and features a dual-zone design that can keep some items frozen and some items cool, all in the same compartment.
In addition to being powered via a standard AC or DC outlet, you can also purchase a battery to keep the cooler running for hours when you don't have immediate access to power.
Ninebot MAX G2 Electric KickScooter
When you see "EV," you're likely thinking of a four-wheeled vehicle. But a more practical EV for urban dwellers and suburban commuters might be this Segway Ninebot KickScooter Max G2. It's a midrange electric scooter (yes, it's designed for adults) that's capable of up to 22 mph and an estimated 43 miles of travel on a single charge.
The scooter features 10-inch pneumatic tires, dual front (drum) and rear (electronic) brakes, and cruise control. Segway's Full-On Suspension System features a front hydraulic damper and double-spring suspension at the rear for a smooth ride. The MAX G2 even has anti-skid traction control and a screen for viewing distance and battery information, and it connects with an app on your mobile device for adjusting settings and keeping tabs on charge remotely. It even works with Apple's Find My, and of course the handlebar folds down for easy storage and carrying. It's not cheap, true—but for the guy who has everything? It's a great gift.
FlexBreeze Fan with InstaCool Mist Attachment
Shark might be most known for its vacuums, but the Flexbreeze highlights its expanding interest in other areas of the home. This unique fan features a built-in battery, a unique pop-out design, and is even available with a detachable mister that hooks up to a hose for those hot summer days.
The FlexBreeze can run up to 24 hours on a single charge (on low speed without oscillation) via its integrated battery, and its included remote makes it easy to customize the output with the click of a few buttons. The fan comes with a pedestal, but also converts to tabletop mode with a clever built-in tripod base. It's fun, easy to use, and does a great job putting out a lot of air for its small frame.
The Shark FlexBreeze fan was a great backyard companion over the summer, thanks to its battery-powered operation.
OpenRun Pro
Sometimes you want to be able to hear the outside world while listening to music, podcasts, or your favorite shows. Enter Shokz OpenRun Pro, a premium bone-conducting headset.
This lightweight headset features Shokz ninth-generation bone conduction technology as well as a 10-hour battery life that can be topped off in a jiffy with quick-charge capabilities. The headset is IP55 sweat- and water-resistant for those more intense workouts, and there's an included Shokz case that keeps the headset safe inside your bag when traveling.
These are great for anyone who frequently works out, as well as anyone who works in a facility that requires open-air headphones for safety purposes. You can even pick a color to match your look, with black, blue, pink, and beige options available at this time.
M5 3D Printer
Guys who love tech and gadgets as well as cars will have a ball with this gift. While 3-D printing might still be considered a novelty of sorts, it has plenty of functional purposes for car enthusiasts. Not only can you print third-party tools and trinkets found on Printables or Thingiverse, but some manufacturers, such as Ford, offer 3-D files of accessories for cars.
Anker is relatively new to the world of 3-D printing, but its AnkerMake M5 is a respectable midrange option that's relatively easy to use. It offers impressive printing resolution and has built-in features such as error detection, wireless connectivity, and automatic leveling to ensure every print starts out perfectly.
Mini 4 Pro Fly More Drone Combo
DJI's Mini 4 Pro is packed full of impressive imaging capabilities and innovative navigation features. The 249-gram weight of the unit means the device is just under the Federal Aviation Administration's 250-gram limit for registering your drone in the United States, significantly reducing the barriers to entry other drones require. The Mini 4 Pro captures 4K video at up to 100 frames per second (fps) or 4K at 60 fps with HDR video. I use this drone and have captured video in Hybrid Log Gamma (HLG) or DJI's 10-bit D-Log M color profile, both of which increase the flexibility of the video files in postproduction.
The unit is rated for roughly 12 miles of transmission between the drone and the included remote, ensuring even congested areas or flying within valleys/hills won't impact your ability to record video or snap photos. Other features include 360-degree obstacle-avoidance sensors, a plethora of automated capture modes capable of locking in on and tracking subjects, and a 34-minute flight time with the included batteries.
WF-1000XM5 Noise-Canceling Earbuds
Not all stocking stuffers need to be trinkets. The WF-1000XM5 noise-canceling earbuds feature Sony's industry-leading noise-canceling technology and intuitive touch controls for effortless management of soundtracks and calls. A long-lasting battery provides all-day listening (eight hours of constant listening and up to 24 hours if you count the included charging case).
The WF-1000XM5s are perfect whether your favorite guy is in the office or at the gym. They're available in black and copper or silver and gold colorways, and yes, the universal-fit box drops effortlessly into most standard-size stockings.
Electric Precision Screwdriver Kit Pro
The Hoto Tools Precision Screwdriver Kit Pro is a wonderful gift for any DIY aficionado or professional. The screwdriver uses a two-gear design to provide more than enough torque for delicate builds or repairs. It also features built-in LED lights and an innovative contact charging case that stores the drill and its accessories, ensuring power is always topped off when needed.
This kit isn't just about looks—it's about substance, with 48 bits forged from S2 steel, complemented by a suite of practical tools like spudgers, tweezers, and a suction cup for those tricky parts. The electric screwdriver's adjustable torque and handy magnetizer/demagnetizer tool help to ensure no small bits and pieces go missing. Whether you're a tech enthusiast or a creative tinkerer, the Hoto Tools kit provides practicality and precision in a compact, stylish package.
Boost Plus GB40 Jump Starter
This supremely portable lithium battery jump-starter pack is rated at 1000 amps and is capable of reviving a dead battery in seconds. It's suitable for gasoline engines up to six liters and diesel engines up to three liters, making it versatile for a variety of vehicles. In our testing, it had no problem jump-starting the very-dead battery of a decrepit Mitsubishi Eclipse. For all these reasons, the NOCO Boost Plus GB40 makes a perfect gift for any driver.
The GB40 features spark-proof technology and reverse polarity protection, which allows it to connect to any battery safely. The inclusion of a 100-lumen LED flashlight with seven light modes enhances visibility in low-light conditions.
Steam Deck
Valve's Steam Deck wasn't the first mobile console capable of playing PC-level games, but it was the first to integrate seamlessly with Valve's Steam library. This portable powerhouse lets gamers take their entire library on the go using a custom chipset optimized for handheld gaming on a seven-inch touchscreen.
The unit features an array of familiar joysticks, buttons, and triggers, as well as two touchpads and dedicated buttons for menus and the Steam Store. It is available starting at 64GB of internal storage, but we suggest starting with at least the 256GB option, if not the 512GB model, due to the massive file size of most modern games.
While it shines as a handheld unit, it can also be plugged in to an external display and used to play as you would on a much larger gaming computer or console.
MoGo 2 Pro 1080P Portable Projector
Sure, his phone can play videos and movies on the go. But what to do when friends and family also want to watch?
This powerful little projector can go anywhere. It has built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, as well as stereo speakers, a 700-lumen lamp capable of projecting up to a 200-inch image, and a built-in battery that should power the device for up to 2.5 hours. Better still, it's powered by Android TV, meaning you can easily install Netflix, Hulu, Disney+, Max, and other streaming services. Best of all, there's an HDMI input port for hooking up gaming consoles and laptops. Campfires are about to get a whole lot more fun.
K4 Compact Bluetooth Mechanical Keyboard
Cars and keyboards aren't typically overlapping product categories, but I can't help but draw the parallels between a quality ride and a glorious typing experience. Keychron keyboards work equally well with MacOS and Windows computer systems, as well as both Android and iOS/iPadOS mobile devices.
A full-size keyboard with a compact design, the Keychron K4 includes nearly every key and number he'll need, and it works wirelessly over Bluetooth or USB-C. The unit comes with countless options and configurations in lighting and key styles. Which variation he'll prefer is subjective, but regardless of which one he gets, your favorite tech-y guy will experience a massive improvement in performance and user interface compared to whatever keyboard he's currently using.
The Terrace QLED 4K Outdoor Smart TV Bundle w/ Soundbar
Sure, your guy can sit on the porch and enjoy all the scents, sounds, and views nature has to offer. But what's the point if he can't keep up with the latest F1 race or big game? Enter Samsung's The Terrace, an outdoor QLED (Quantum LED) 4K television designed to ensure he can watch all of his favorite events outdoors. The Terrace is IP56 rated, which means it can handle nearly any weather Mother Nature can throw its way, and it has a maximum brightness of over 2000 nits, ensuring even in full sun he should have no problem keeping up with every lap or touchdown. It looks just as great poolside as it does mounted on an outdoor wall, and it has Samsung's Tizen smart TV operating system for installing and using apps and streaming services.
The unit is available in three sizes—55 inches, 65 inches, and 75 inches—and is pretty much ready to go out of the box with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity.
Heated Travel Mug 2+
Any guy who spends mornings behind the wheel is gonna love this gift. The Ember Travel Mug 2+ features a built-in heating element on the bottom to keep coffee at the perfect temperature for hours at a time. Better still, charging the mug is as simple as keeping it atop the included charging base; as long as he's at his desk, his Joe will stay between 120 and 145 degrees Fahrenheit all day long. So it's ideal for both commuters and road trippers.
While there's an on-mug interface for controlling the heat of the coffee, the mug can also be paired with Ember's mobile app for an even more refined experience.
It even works with Apple's Find My function—but if you don't want that, you can get this same Ember Mug2+ for about half the price.
OneTap Pro 3 Phone Mount
Talk about the perfect stocking stuffer. There's no shortage of charging phone mounts on the market, but few are as clean and well designed as the Spigen OneTap Pro 3. It's a perfect blend of form and function, and it's easily one of our favorite phone mount/charger combos.
Designed specifically to work with Apple's MagSafe-compatible iPhone 12 and later, it conveniently holds your phone via built-in magnets while simultaneously charging it wirelessly at up to 15 watts (the exact power will vary based on your phone model). The unit is adjustable so you can place it in just the right location within the cabin, and the built-in DC car plug is long enough that you shouldn't have any issue connecting the unit to an in-car power supply.
Solix C1000 Portable Power Station
The Anker Solix C1000 power station is the perfect gift to ensure he always has enough power on the go. Its capacity, charging speed, and compact size make it a great option for weekend trips, camping adventures, tailgating, and more.
The unit features 11 total ports, including two USB-A, two USB-C, six AC wall plugs, and one DC car port. It features a LiFePO battery rated for 3000 cycles that can charge from zero to 100 percent in less than an hour. Other features include an integrated ambient LED light, UPS functionality with a sub-20-millisecond switchover, and support for Anker's smartphone app. If your guy spends a lot of time in the garage or workshop, this little dynamo will be a lifesaver.
Sonicare Power Flosser 5000
The Philips Sonicare Power Flosser 5000 takes the hassle out of flossing with whisper-quiet operation. According to Philips, this flosser is 180 percent more effective than manual flossing. Its four X-shaped water streams work effortlessly, offering a far deeper and more thorough clean than traditional floss alone can offer.
It comes with two flossing modes and 10 intensity settings. He can even switch between the standard nozzle for a focused stream and the Quad Stream nozzle for extensive coverage along gums and teeth. Filling the tank is a breeze, and the unit automatically powers down upon placing the flosser back on the magnetic dock. It's certainly a luxury, but one he'll wonder how he lived without.
BD310 OBD-II Vehicle Diagnostic Scanner
The Ancel BD310 was the Gear Team's choice as the Best OBD-II Scanner for DIY Use. The BD310 is quick to connect and display codes, providing many of the perks of more expensive scanners while staying affordable. Your favorite tech nerd can diagnose his own car issues via the corded interface or connect it via Bluetooth and use the free Ancel app to access more data, diagnostic resources, and performance testing.
During testing, we loved the scanner's happy medium between corded and Bluetooth and felt the app's interface was excellent. The perfect gift for the man who likes to know what's going on all the time.
Pod 3 Heating/Cooling Mattress Cover
Depending on your situation, here's a gift that might benefit you too. The Eight Sleep Pod 3 Cover is a high-tech solution for sleep optimization, and while it's not cheap its benefits are priceless. It uses a custom mattress cover and an accompanying temperature-control system to pump water throughout the cover, keeping the sleeping surface at a comfortable temp all night long.
Beyond its ability to regulate bed temperature, it works alongside the accompanying app to track sleep patterns and integrate with smart home systems. While the need for a subscription to unlock all these features may not appeal to all potential buyers, the data-driven insights and the potential health benefits of improved sleep could justify the cost for those who want the best sleep at any cost.
Stream Deck +
The Elgato Stream Deck + is a clever computer peripheral that helps to streamline workflows using an array of buttons, dials, and an integrated display. The unit features eight customizable buttons with a display behind each one, as well as four customizable dials that can precisely adjust parameters for your computer, specific editing software, or streaming studio programs.
While the device itself is impressive, the real magic comes with the accompanying software, which lets you adjust the buttons and dials to fit your needs. Some may find the initial setup requires a learning curve, but the potential for enhancing workflow and productivity in content creation is incredible once you've invested a bit of time in setting it all up.
