Film producer Steve Bing dies after jumping off building: report

Film producer Steve Bing, who financed projects like “The Polar Express,” “Beowulf” and the Rolling Stones’ concert film “Shine A Light,” died on Monday after leaping off a Century City, Calif., building, Deadline reports. He was 55 years old.

In addition to producing, Bing was a businessman and donor to liberal causes, and had a screenwriting credit for the 2003 film “Kangaroo Jack.” He and former President Bill Clinton were particularly close, with Bing paying for Clinton to fly to North Korea in 2009 in order to negotiate the release of two American journalists.

The confirmation of his death is still pending, but without revealing his identity, the Los Angeles Police Department told Deadline that a man fitting Bing’s description was found dead at the scene.
