A Figure Skater Re-Created the ‘Wednesday’ DanceTikTok

Good morning, figure skater Kamila Valieva just blew everyone else’s Wednesday dance out of the water by incorporating it into her figure skating routine last week.

As Billboard was the first to report, Valieva dressed as Jenna Ortega’s Wednesday Addams during the routine (complete with two braids and a ruffled black dress) and performed the actor’s original choreography to the Cramps’ song “Goo Goo Muck” before the music changed to a sped-up version of Lady Gaga’s “Bloody Mary.”

I meaaan, amazing. Might have to take up ice skating just to copy this.

FYI, Jenna revealed that she choreographed the dance with inspiration from archival footage of goths dancing—not to mention Siouxsie Sioux and Bob Fosse’s Rich Man’s Frug. But despite the dance’s almost immediate popularity, she had some reservations. “I actually felt really insecure about this,” Jenna said while watching the scene for a Netflix interview. “I choreographed that myself and I think it’s very obvious that I’m not a dancer or choreographer.”

Jenna also shouted out the specific artists who influenced her in a tweet, saying, “Thanks to Siouxsie Sioux, Bob Fosse’s Rich Man’s Frug, Lisa Loring, Lene Lovich, Denis Lavant, and archival footage of goths dancing in clubs in the ’80s. Helped me out on this one.”

Oh, and turns out that she filmed the scene when she had COVID (she hadn’t tested positive yet) and was feeling pretty sick. “I’d gotten the song about a week before and I just pulled from whatever I could.…It’s crazy because it was my first day with COVID so it was awful to film,” she told NME. “Yeah, I woke up and—it’s weird, I never get sick and when I do it’s not very bad—I had the body aches.”

Impressive final result considering she was so sick!

Anyway, will leave you with this:
