‘We need a fighter’: Maya Wiley gets nod from Sen. Elizabeth Warren
New York City mayoral candidate Maya Wiley won the endorsement of Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren — virtually solidifying her place as a progressive favorite after New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez gave her nod of approval over the weekend.
“We need a fighter, a progressive changemaker, and a woman with plans to lead New York City,” Warren tweeted Monday night.
The latest endorsement comes on the heels of several major nods for Wiley as she seeks to distinguish herself in the packed Democratic field with just days to go before early voting starts.

“Big structural change is exactly what New York City needs right now. @ewarren, thank you for your confidence in me. Let’s dream big and fight hard for the City we love,” Wiley tweeted moments before Warren’s post.
On Saturday, Wiley picked up an endorsement from both Ocasio-Cortez and former 2020 presidential candidate Julian Castro.
Progressive voters have so far been divided between Wiley, city Comptroller Scott Stringer and former nonprofit executive Dianne Morales.
But with Stringer and Morales both embroiled in separate scandals, Wiley has an opening to challenge the frontrunners — Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams, businessman Andrew Yang and former Sanitation Commissioner Kathryn Garcia — in the final days of the race.
