Show up to Ferrari's private Fiorano test track, and one thing's usually for certain: You'll see Ferraris on the tarmac. The company tests all of its new and upcoming cars on the hyper-exclusive circuit, with other makes almost never present. That's why we're so shocked to see the Maranello-based carmaker testing a Huracán STO from its main rival, Lamborghini, on the circuit.

Spy YouTuber Varryx was on the scene outside Fiorano to capture this STO lapping Fiorano as red-clothed Ferrari personnel stood by. In addition to on-limit handling, the car can be seen doing a handful of maneuvers and slides. And thanks to the 5.2-liter naturally aspirated V-10 out back, it sounds great doing it. Look closely at the STO and you'll see a smattering of tape along the side skirts and roof, possibly to secure data-logging devices.

Ferrari could be testing this STO for any number of reasons. It's not uncommon for big carmakers to benchmark competitors to get an idea of how their rivals stack up—we've seen GM benchmark Ferraris to help engineers better develop the Corvette, after all.

Still, seeing Ferrari itself take part in the benchmarking game is a bit jarring, especially when it's happening on the track known for exclusively hosting Ferraris.
