Fern Creek High School cancels classes Friday after water pipe break

Fern Creek High School canceled classes Friday after a water pipe break at the building.

According to an email from Jefferson County Public Schools, the building is without water and functioning bathrooms. Mark Hebert, JCPS Communications Manager, said the leak was coming from outside the school, and wouldn't be repaired in time for scheduled classes.

Students will return home throughout the morning. Bus riders headed to Fern Creek or already at the school will stay until after the JCPS’ 9:40 a.m. busses complete their scheduled routes. Busses will be rerouted to Fern Creek to pick up students and return them home.

The graduation practice for seniors is scheduled for 10:45 a.m. at Freedom Hall.

Herbert said repair times are currently unknown.
