Awards season is officially underway as the 2024 Golden Globes nominations were just announced, and, needless to say, people are riled up — particularly Fellow Travelers fans.

For background, the hit Showtime drama is up for two trophies at the January 7 ceremony. Alongside a Best Television Limited Series, Anthology Series or a Motion Picture Made for Television nod, actor/executive producer Matt Bomer received a nomination for Best Actor in a Limited Series for his portrayal as Hawkins "Hawk" Fuller.

While folks were excited to see Fellow Travelers get high praise, many were upset when they learned Jonathan Bailey was not nominated for his emotional role as Hawk's longtime love, Tim Laughlin. This led many to defend the Bridgerton star, voicing their opinions on X about the actor being snubbed for his acting performance.

"Jonathan Bailey got snubbed by Golden Globes. I am sad," one person wrote. "Jonathan Bailey the biggest snub HOW DARE [YOU] GOLDEN GLOBES," another exclaimed. "Jonathan Bailey I’m so sorry you were robbed 😭," a different fan added.

But it's important to note, as Variety shared in late November, that Jonathan only submitted his work for Best Supporting Actor nominations during the awards season, even though he and Matt technically are the main leads of Fellow Travelers. To add to that, the Golden Globes just eliminated the Best Supporting Actor in a Limited Series category, and only has it for Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role on Television, which made the competition even more steep.

When news of his nomination broke, Matt was quick to highlight his co-star in a statement, according to E! News. "I’m beyond thrilled and grateful that the show and everyone involved has been recognized for their hard work and dedication to this story. I still can’t believe we were able to get this show made, so it’s truly a dream to have it recognized in this way. I’d also like to say that any nomination for me is also a nomination for Jonathan Bailey - there is no Hawk without Tim."

Though Jonathan's chances at a Golden Globe won't happen this year, he does have other opportunities to be recognized for his work in Fellow Travelers. Variety also noted he was submitted to be considered for potential 2024 Emmy Awards and SAG Awards nominations, so maybe he'll have a moment to shine there.

Either way, we'll have our fingers crossed for Fellow Travelers to win!
