Feel the buzz, Idaho? Boise has one of the ‘25 Best Coffee Shops in the U.S.’

We’re cool beans, Boise.

Let’s toast ourselves with an espresso shot.

Downtown’s Slow by Slow Coffee Bar has been named one of “The 25 Best Coffee Shops in the U.S.” by travel website Trips to Discover.

Slow by Slow opened seven years ago. Brewing coffee from multiple roasters, it’s at 405 S. 8th St. in the BoDo district. Not that you’d know it from the article, which provides zero addresses for the 25 shops across the nation. Nor does it link to their websites. (It links to Airbnb rentals instead.)

Slow by Slow is locally owned. And beloved by many java junkies. (Even if it got bounced in the second round of the Statesman’s Treasure Valley Coffee Shop Bracket last year.)

Does this blurb capture the aroma of what makes the place special?

“If you’re a coffee lover who’s always looking for something new, look no further than Slow by Slow in Boise, Idaho,” Trips to Discover writes. “Known for releasing 15 new coffees each month, this is a top spot for widening your knowledge about the industry without having to venture further than your new favorite coffee shop. Slow by Slow hosts coffee-tasting experiences for those looking to level up their knowledge, too. Expect a range of ongoing collaborations with fun, colorful packaging to match. It’s arguably the most fun place to learn more about coffee with all of the taste and none of the pretentiousness.”

This honor tastes a little like motel-room coffee. The list of 25 appears to be a faraway attempt to create marketing and pageviews through web research. What are the odds that the author — a Brit who lives in Indonesia, according to her bio — has ever set foot in Idaho, let alone Slow by Slow? North America, hopefully?

Yet we’re Idahoans. We crave this kind of attention like morning caffeine.

For newbies looking for Slow by Slow praise and recommendations, check out Yelp. The shop rates an impressive 4 1/2 out of 5 stars from 188 reviews.

“My favorite coffee place in Boise,” one reviewer gushed days ago. “This is because they actually make their lattes and such from scratch. They come up with some incredibly good flavor combinations. My all time favorite, so far, is the Bedford Falls. I highly recommend it! It’s just the perfect amount of sweetness, and I usually have mine in coconut milk. It’s perfect, especially on a chilly day. Soooo comforting.”

Much like knowing that the more we celebrate random list articles, the more they’ll keep on comin’.
