The Summer I Turned Pretty just hits different. Ask anyone!

The popular Amazon Prime show, which is based on a book series by author Jenny Han, has been a fan-favorite since its inaugural season dropped last summer. And now, the show's second season—following the plot of the O.G. book's sequel, It's Not Summer Without You—just dropped its final episode after debuting on July 14. Right now, all eight episodes that are available to stream, and the finale dropping on Friday.

In case you need a quick refresher, relatably lovelorn teenager Isabel "Belly" Conklin (played by Lola Tung) and her brother Steven Conklin (Sean Kaufman) have spent many summers at Cousins Beach with their mom's BFF Susannah Fisher (Rachel Blanchard) and her sons Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno) and Conrad (Christopher Briney).

During season 1, Belly was caught in a love triangle with both Fisher brothers, ultimately deciding that Conrad was her one true summer love. But during season 2, things got...even more complicated.

So, are there any more episodes being released and what's in store for season 3?! Here's what to know.

What happened during season 2?

Um, several things. Spoiler alert! The first episode picks back up the fall after Belly and Conrad officially begin dating long-distance, and flashes back and forth with the current summer, after they've (spoiler!) broken up, and Susannah has died.

The crew returns to the beach house after Susannah's death and have to deal with the fact that Susannah's sister, Aunt Julia (Kyra Sedgwick), has moved all of Susannah's things out and plans to sell the property. Belly and Conrad have weird unresolved tension, and Jeremiah is just waiting for his chance to swoop in.

Julia is joined by their cousin, Skye, who they've been estranged from due to family drama between their mothers. Eventually, the brothers team up with Skye and try everything to try to get Aunt Julia to change her mind. But eventually, the house is sold. To celebrate their last night there, they throw a rager, where things get a *bit* messy. Episode 6 ends with Belly drunkenly calling her mom crying after a conversation with Conrad.

Then, Laurel shows up to Cousins and she is mad. She and Belly get into a pretty big mother-daughter fight and it ends with Laurel slapping Belly. Yikes! Later, Steven reconciles the situation by explaining how Belly has helped the Fisher brothers to his mother. Laurel apologizes to Belly and all is forgiven. This moment kind of sets a tone for the rest of the episode.

The characters go on an apology tour. Laurel has a deep chat with Julia (Susannah's sister) about their regrets over Susannah's death. She then repeats a similar conversation with Adam Fisher (Conrad and Jeremiah's father).

Conrad and Jeremiah have a touching moment where they (kind of) settle their sibling dispute...until Belly enters the equation again! The three head to Brown so Conrad can take his final, and Jeremiah and Belly have a moment together while they kill time. Sadly, I think "killing time" is the theme for Jeremiah and Belly's relationship.

The two end up kissing before being interrupted by a perfectly timed Conrad, and the penultimate episode ends. The finale obviously answers the question: Does Belly really seal the deal with Jere?

Are there more episodes?

Alas! The finale dropped on August 18, marking the end of season 2.

When are new episodes released?

While the first season's episodes were dropped all at once, making the show *ultra* binge-worthy, season 2's episodes are dropped weekly, with the exception of the three-episode premiere on July 14.

The good news: You can already stream the first seven episodes (run, don't walk!), and the remaining one set to be released on Friday at 12:00 am ET. Sadly for everyone, that'll be the final drop for season 2. But don't fret: a third season is already in the works!

Obviously, since the series is based on Jenny Han's books, you can kinda sorta skip ahead if you reeeally want to know what will happen during season 3. Honestly, sounds like a perfect beach or vacation read if you ask me.

The series is available for purchase on Amazon (and probably any other major bookstore you try... Jenny Han is ubiquitous!).

Will there be a Summer I Turned Pretty season 3?

Yup. The book series is a trilogy, after all, and Variety has confirmed that the show has been renewed for a 10-episode third season. It will follow Han's third book of the series, We'll Always Have Summer. Everyone, rejoice! The show's second season has been one of the 10 most-watched seasons of any series on Amazon Prime Video ever, per the platform.

“Jenny Han is a gifted storyteller, whose fans have been clamoring for the third chapter of this story," says Vernon Sanders, head of television at Amazon and MGM Studios, according to Variety. "We’re excited today to share the news that they have a lot more ‘Summer’ to look forward to."

Jenny was apparently *very* into the idea of doing a season 3, so all's well that ends well. "I would love to be able to finish telling that story the way that I wrote it," she told Variety in June 2022. "But I certainly don't take anything for granted. I just hope people find the audience and people love it and want more."

Stay tuned for more updates on your favorite Cousins beach residents as more season 3 news hits.
