The U.S. Department and Health and Human Services and the FBI raided a Greenville medical lab Tuesday, but declined to say what they were looking for.

The business is Diversified Medical Healthcare, which announced to great fanfare last February it would build a $51 million facility in Greenville and keep its headquarters on Pelham Road, which was the site of the investigation.

A spokesperson for Health and Human Services said in an email agency personnel were at the business “performing law enforcement activity.”

“We can provide no additional information at this time,” she said.

A spokesman for the FBI said they were on site for support, as did a spokesman for the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office.

One of the company’s subsidiaries, Premier Medical Laboratory, released a statement saying they respect the role of federal and state agencies and are cooperating fully.

The statement also said the lab is fully accredited and continues to operate.

The company was started in 2011 and has a number of subsidiaries besides Premier Medical Laboratory Services, including CPT Medical, Vessel Medical and OnGen, according to its website. They run clinical reference laboratories, medical supply and equipment distribution, sterile medical manufacturing, and medical software.

The company has been especially involved in COVID-19 testing for state health departments and Health and Human Services surge sites throughout the country and produced testing kits and personal protective equipment.

The lab provides a range of testing services in addition to COVID testing, including toxicology screening, genetics, cardiovascular, diabetes, wellness panels, allergens and blood.

The company said the expansion would create 185 jobs, a development lauded by state and federal officials. U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham toured the facility last June.
