The dirt continues to move on new businesses in a growing part of Lexington County, and now a new auto care spot is on the way.

Express Oil Change and Tire Engineers will open a new location in the 5400 block of Platt Springs Road in the Red Bank area, according to a sign posted at the property. Construction work was ongoing at the site when a reporter went by Tuesday morning.

The oil change and tire shop will be out in front of the Lake Crossing shopping center that is anchored by a Publix grocery store and also includes a Domino’s Pizza and other businesses. The Express Oil will be next door to the new Chick-fil-A restaurant that opened earlier this year at 5465 Platt Springs Road.

Express Oil Change and Tire Engineers is a nationally known brand with locations in numerous states, especially in the Southeast. The company touts “stay in your car” service and 10-minute oil changes and offers a number of brands of tires.

Lexington County has continued to grow steadily and land businesses to go along with that growth. According to the census, the county’s population swelled from 262,391 to 293,991 in the last decade, good for a 12% gain.

The area near the Lake Crossing shopping center in Red Bank stays busy. About 18,000 card per day travel down that section of Platt Springs Road, and nearly 25,000 cars per day travel down nearby South Lake Drive.

The general area is also no stranger to new oil changing places: A Take 5 Oil Change location opened recently at 1846 South Lake Drive, less than half a mile from the coming Express Oil site.
