Del Taco has been focused on opening stores on the state’s Gulf Coast. But plans also call for openings in South Florida.

What is Del Taco?
Restaurants: The California-based fast-food chain features tacos and burgers.
Background: Ed Hackbarth and David Jameson opened the first Del Taco in Yermo, California, in 1964 with a menu of 19-cent tacos, tostadas, fries and 24-cent cheeseburgers,according to the company website. Hamburger company Jack in the Box bought Del Taco in 2021.
Where is Del Taco?
Locations: Del Taco has about 600 restaurants across 15 states, and is seeking to add more. Del Taco has five Florida locations: two in Orlando, and one in Melbourne, Kissimmee and Bradenton. A second Bradenton-area location is planned.

South Florida plans: A franchise group called 61 Holdings has signed a five-restaurant deal to build Del Tacos in Broward and Palm Beach counties, according to the company.

▪ “We’ve been looking to expand our portfolio in Palm Beach and Broward County with a brand that is dedicated to using high quality ingredients and great customer service and believe Del Taco is just the brand we’ve been looking for,” said Oliver Hurd, founder and managing partner of franchise group, 61 Holdings, said in a statement,
▪ “Florida is probably the state with the most growth for us there,” Del Taco brand president Chad Gretzema told the Bradenton Herald. “I think Florida being such a fast-growing state, and the whole Southeast in general, are some of the fastest-growing states in America. There’s just a huge demand for really fresh Mexican food.”
