We Have a New Fantastic Four and They’re Perfect

MARVEL'S FIRST FAMILY are officially coming back to the big screen. After multiple previous movie adaptations and countless casting rumors, Marvel Studios has just confirmed that a brand new Fantastic Four movie is coming next year—sooner than its previous release date indicated—and that the main characters have all been cast.

The Fantastic Four was just revealed in a surprise Valentine's Day announcement on social media, featuring a kitsch, 1960s-inspired illustration that showed us our very first look at the new Mr. Fantastic, Invisible Woman, Human Torch and Thing—and hinted at a period setting for this latest movie, which would be in keeping with the characters' origins in the comic books.

We can officially now say that Reed Richards will be played by Pedro Pascal, star of The Mandalorian and The Last of Us—something that has been widely speculated for some time now. Sue Storm will be portrayed by Vanessa Kirby, best known for her roles in the Mission: Impossible franchise and the recent Napoleon biopic. Johnny Storm will be played by Joseph Quinn, the breakout star of the most recent season of Stranger Things, while Ben Grimm will be played by Ebon Moss-Bachrach, fresh off his Emmy win for playing Richie/Cousin in The Bear.

There's no word yet on who will be taking on the mask and cape of Victor Von Doom, a.k.a. Doctor Doom, the longstanding nemesis of the Fantastic Four who has been played in previous iterations by Julian McMahon and Toby Kebbell.

The release date for The Fantastic Four has been set for July 25, 2025, moved up from the previous planned date of later that summer; it has switched with the anti-hero ensemble movie Thunderbolts. Given recent issues that have plagued the MCU in terms of critical and fan response—not to mention the legal issues facing one of its key stars—it's entirely possible that the Fantastic Four's MCU debut has been brought forward as a way to inject a bit of life into the lagging Multiverse saga, or perhaps introduce something else entirely. And that will undoubtedly delight fans.
