How Fantasia Barrino Taylor Got Ready for Her First Golden Globes
Fantasia Barrino-Taylor's fashion and beauty looks for The Color Purple press tour have been immaculate. So it's no surprise that she arrived on her first Golden Globe red carpet already looking like a winner in a custom black and purple Dolce and Gabbana corset gown, paying homage to the film, which had the second largest Christmas Day movie opening of all time. The gown featured a velvet corset top, a bedazzled midsection, and flared out into a lavender tulle skirt. She donned her signature pixie cut, which is a predicted hair trend for 2024, and accented her look with an assortment of Ring Concierge jewelry, including diamond earrings and an array of rings.
And while Barrino-Taylor may not have won for Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy Motion Picture, in her ELLE Women In Hollywood cover story, the Grammy award winning singer shared that she's now in a place where she knows she is the award. “Always remember it was your first love, so that you don’t get caught up in the rat race. There was a point where I didn’t want to sing no more because I just was like, ‘Why are my albums not going number one? Why am I not selling out? Why am I still showing up at the shows and the promoter ain’t got my money?’ I had to get to a place where I realized that I am the award, I am the trophy. Now my shows are sold out, but I don’t want to get caught up in it. And that’s what I would tell a young person: ‘Make sure you still love it.’ Don’t get caught up in all the hoopla—remember what you fell in love with.”
