Greater Manchester Police has urged any Manchester City and Manchester United fans travelling to the FA Cup final from Manchester on Saturday to plan their route - both to and from London.

As with last year’s final between the derby rivals, supporter coaches and travelling fans have been asked to take different routes to Wembley.

Manchester United coaches should take the western route down the M6, with City fans taking the M1 - and each club will be asked to use designated service stations. Fans have also been told not to travel to London if they do not have a match ticket.

"This final promises to be a great day for our city and we want to ensure everyone enjoys the day, whether that is in Manchester or in London," said chief superintendent Colette Rose, GMP's gold commander for the event.

"Supporters at last year’s final were a credit to both teams - please remember that you are representing Manchester again and that the match is not an excuse for anti-social or criminal behaviour."
