Is there a chance Shemar Moore could be heading back to one of his old TV haunts? The actor has some feelings about it, and soap opera fans will want to pay attention to this.

As the actor's current show S.W.A.T. wrapped season 7, ahead of a surprise season 8 renewal from CBS, Shemar shared his thoughts on the future of his acting career. He spoke to TVInsider in an article published April 10, where he expressed his feelings about potentially reprising his role as Malcolm Winters on The Young and the Restless (a.k.a. the series that launched him to stardom in 1994). Given how his time on the show eventually led him to roles on Criminal Minds and S.W.A.T., he also shared his reason for why he'd consider heading back to Genoa City.

"If The Young and the Restless called me today, I would go," he revealed to the outlet. "Because you never forget where you came from. It sounds cliche and maybe cheesy, but it’s also true."

As fans of The Young and the Restless may remember, Shemar first debuted on the soap opera in 1994, where he become one of the show's most well-known actors. He played Malcolm Winters from 1994 until 2002, when he left to star in the WB series Birds of Prey. He eventually came back for various stints on the show, with his most recent appearance coinciding with The Young and the Restless'50th anniversary in May 2023.

If he ever does step back into Malcolm's shoes for a guest spot on The Young and the Restless, could fans also see him back in a full-time capacity? As he told the outlet, viewers shouldn't expect something like that to occur.

"When I’m unemployed, you might get me on Young and the Restless a little longer,” he joked. "But will I go back for a contract? No, probably not...I want to continue to grow and evolve. There’s a lot in me that people don’t know that I’m capable of. I know it’s in me, but I got to dig deep to bring it out."

Well, if this is Shemar's plan, it may just be a little while before we see this come to fruition, as S.W.A.T. films more episodes for season 8 in fall 2024. Nonetheless, we'll be sure to keep our eyes peeled to see what's next.
