Fans 'Physically Ill' Over Christian Oliver's Last Social Media Post Before Plane Crash

Christian Oliver

Christian Oliver's final message on social media is leaving his followers with broken hearts.

The 51-year-old actor—known for films like Speed Racer, The Good German and Valkyrie—was involved in a tragic accident on Thursday, Jan. 4, when his plane crashed into the Caribbean Sea, killing both him and his two daughters, ages 10 and 12.

Following reports of the devastating news, fans and friends have been flocking to his social media pages to send their condolences and pay tribute to the late actor—but his final Instagram post is making fans "physically ill" over the sadness.

Just days before he died, Oliver shared an Instagram post to welcome in the new year, writing alongside a scenic photo from a tropical vacation, "Let Love Rule. Wishing all of you the best for 2024."

"Greetings from somewhere in paradise," he wrote in the caption. "To community and love...2024 [here] we come!"

"I am physically ill," one of his followers wrote under the post, insisting, "This must be a mistake."

"I can't believe it," someone else commented, while another called it, "So sad that this was the last thing he posted on his feed."

Oliver, who also appeared in 1995's The Baby-Sitters Club, was on board a single-engine aircraft headed for St. Lucia on Thursday afternoon when the aircraft "experienced difficulties and plummeted into the ocean," just moments after taking off from J.F. Mitchell Airport in Paget Farm.

Local police recovered four bodies from the wreckage in the ocean surrounding the island of Bequia, and later identified them as Oliver—whose real name is Christian Klepser, along with his daughters Annik Klepser, 12, Madita Klepser, 10, and the owner of the plane, Robert Sachs.

Official causes of death are still pending.
