Fans Have a Lot of Thoughts About North West's Casting in Hollywood Bowl's 'The Lion King'

North West was just announced as one of the newest cast members of the Hollywood Bowl's The Lion King concert event—and the internet isn't sure how to feel about it.

North, the eldest daughter of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, will be joining the cast of the musical concert set to run at the Hollywood Bowl later this month to celebrate the 30-year anniversary of Disney's The Lion King.

North, 10, was added to the cast this week along with Broadway's Heather Headley and Grammy winner Lebo M. Previously announced cast members include Billy Eichner, Bradley Gibson, Ernie Sabella, Jason Weaver, Jeremy Irons and Nathan Lane—plus, special guest Jennifer Hudson.

According to Deadline, the two-night event will feature a full orchestra performing Hans Zimmer' Oscar-winning score, while the cast performs numbers that will include costumes, set designs and puppetry from the Broadway show.

But the reactions to North's casting were mixed, with some users taking to the internet to claim the nepotism played a part in the decision.

"This is what nepotism looks like," one fan wrote on social media after the Good Morning America Instagram account shared the news.

Another person took to the comments to lament, "How about the young artists and young actors are trying to break in their start. This is not fair, when these children of so call[ed] famous parents get handed these opportunities."

"Proving you just need money and connections, not talent," someone else wrote on X (formerly Twitter) about North's casting news.

But other fans were excited to see North land a role in the production, as someone else tweeted, "That lineup's gonna be lit, can't wait to see how they pull it off."

"Kid's got more career milestones than I do and she's only 10, lol," another X user quipped.

"Thrilled to see North West stepping into the spotlight alongside legendary talents in Disney's 'The Lion King' concert at the Hollywood Bowl," someone else wrote.

Disney's The Lion King 30th Anniversary — A Live-to-Film Concert Event will run at the Hollywood Bowl Friday, May 24 and Saturday, May 25.
