Fans Gush Over Throwback Photo of Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Chevy Chase: 'The Three Young Amigos'

It seems like Steve Martin was feeling a little nostalgic recently, as he shared a throwback photo from the set of the 1986 hit comedy Three Amigos, with Martin and his co-stars Martin Short and Chevy Chase standing with their arms around each other.

In the photo, all three men smiled at the camera as they posed partly dressed in costume, with Martin writing in the caption, "The Three Young Amigos."

In the 1986 film, the three stars play a trio of silent film actors who are out of work after they ask for a higher salary. The three then travel to a small village in Mexico, where they are mistaken for real heroes and asked to help. Despite their lack of hero experience, the three try to embody their new roles as heroes to save the town from bandits.

Chase responded to Martin's post by commenting with a red heart emoji, "❤️."

Fans were in awe of the throwback picture, with one writing, "❤️ Seriously my heart can barely contain the joy this photo brings. I can only imagine how magical those times were."

"This movie is so important to my family. When I was a kid, my brothers watched it over and over till they had it memorized. It’s so special to us. ❤️❤️❤️," wrote someone else who has a special connection to Three Amigos.

Another replied, "This film was the cornerstone of my childhood."

Unsurprisingly, many took this as an opportunity to ask for a reunion of the three actors. While Martin and Short currently star together in Only Murders in the Building on Hulu, Chase last appeared on screen with one of them in 1991 for L.A. Story, in which Martin starred.

One fan suggested, "Maybe Chevy can get killed in season 5 of Only Murders," thinking that the ongoing comedy series is the perfect chance for a reunion, and many agreed.

Last month, Chase touched on the possibility of a cameo on the show while guesting on the podcast WTF With Marc Maron. While it didn't seem like he was actively pushing for the appearance on Only Murders in the Building, Chase also didn't appear to be against it, telling Marc Maron of the show and his former co-stars, "I miss them. I wish I was doing it with them!"
