Fans Gush Over Mariska Hargitay’s Loved-Up Selfie With Christopher Meloni Ahead of ‘SVU’ Premiere

Mariska Hargitay and Christopher Meloni are fueling fan excitement on social media as they celebrate the premieres of their shows’ new seasons.
Hargitay, who has starred on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit since the show launched in 1999, has been celebrating the arrival of the show’s 25th season all week. She posted a video on Instagram on Tuesday showing off her “favorite new way to start premiere week”—which consisted of her making snow angels—and later stunned in a silver sequined dress at an event with the show’s cast and crew.
Meloni, who was part of SVU’s regular cast for the show’s first 12 seasons as Detective Elliot Stabler and now stars on Law & Order: Organized Crime, posted a photo of himself with Hargitay on Thursday. His caption for the Instagram post read, “…and in the beginning.”
Hargitay commented on Meloni’s post, writing, “And in the beginning… There was you.” She left another comment comprised of several heart, fire and kiss emojis.
NBC’s official Law & Order Instagram account also commented on the post, labeling the two actors “king & queen.”
Several fans who left comments posted heart emojis. Some rejoiced that “mom and dad” were “back,” while others said the photo was “going to break” them.
“What a way to start the Premiere night with Tv''s hottest Power Couple,” one person commented.

One fan offered congratulations for SVU’s landmark premiere. “Congrats to you both!” they wrote, adding that ringing in Season 25 of an “impactful and profound” show “has to be [a] great feeling.”
While Hargitay has starred as Olivia Benson in the police procedural drama for all 25 seasons, Meloni left the main cast after Season 12—though he has returned as a recurring character in recent seasons. Season 25 of SVU and Season 4 of Organized Crime both launch on Thursday, Jan. 18.
