Family of five found dead in Orlando home in suspected murder-suicide

A family of five, including two children, were found dead inside a southeast Orlando home in what authorities believe to be a murder-suicide.

Officers with the Orlando Police Department were conducting a welfare check at a residence on Lake District Lane when they discovered the bodies on Tuesday around 1 p.m. They have not been identified, but authorities have said they were all related.

Justin Rossilini, a neighbor who lives across the street from the two-story home, told the Orlando Sentinel the victims had only moved to the area a few months ago. He added that the family included an adult son and two young girls around the ages of 6 and 7.

“I’ve had the past two days off,” Rossilini told the newspaper, noting that his neighbors seemed like a “normal” family. “We’ve been home. I didn’t hear anything,”

Heather Collins, Rossilini’s fiancée, said the gruesome slayings were like her “worst nightmare.”

“I don’t even know what happened exactly,” she said. “My heart goes out to the family. I can’t even begin to wrap my mind around any of this, especially if there were family involved.”

Authorities have released few other details about the deaths. Neither the motive nor the shooter have been revealed.

Orange County Commissioner Maribel Gomez Cordero, who is also a mental health counselor who lives in the neighborhood, said authorities do not believe there is an threat to the area.

“Just to let the neighbors know they are not in danger. It’s something that happened to the family,” she told Fox 35. “If you need help call for aid. Call my office, there are a lot of services.”
