Fairfield County voters decide on library levy, Lancaster council

Voters in Fairfield County on Tuesday were supporting replacement levies for Meals on Wheels and the Fairfield County District Library, according to unofficial early votes.

The Meals on Wheels 0.8-mill replacement levy was being approved 74% to 26%, results from the Fairfield County Board of Elections show.

The levy amounts to $28 for each $100,000 of the county auditor's appraised value, for 5 years, beginning in 2024 and first due in 2025.

The library levy was being approved 59% to 41%, early results show.

The levy amounts to $17.50 for each $100,000 of the county auditor's appraised value, for 10 years, beginning in 2024, first due in 2025.

With Lancaster Mayor David Scheffler stepping down, Don McDaniel ran unopposed for the position on Tuesday.

The big race in Lancaster was for Lancaster City Council where six candidates − Melody Arent Bobbitt, Alayna Hoop, Corey Schoonover, Tracy Lynn Virgin, Michael Wing, and Robert Carl Wolfinger Jr. − ran for four at-large seats.

Outside of Lancaster, voters throughout Fairfield County chose mayors, council members, township trustees and township fiscal officers and voted on issues.
