Failed GOP candidates blame Hurricane Ian on ‘Deep State’ weather machines

Science says warm ocean waters, proximity to the equator, low vertical wind shears and high relative humidity values contribute to the development of hurricanes.

But a pair of failed 2020 Republican political candidates shared some hot air with their followers this week that weather machines operated by the “Deep State” are to blame for Hurricane Ian cancelling parts of Florida and South Carolina over the past 48 hours.

“We understand that the Deep State — they have weather manipulation technology,” conservative pundit DeAnna Lorraine said on her “Shots Fired” web program. “They know how to manipulate and create big storms, hurricanes, tornados, climate change etc.”

Lorraine, who garnered 1.8% of the vote in her 2020 effort to unseat House Speaker Nancy Pelosi in Pelosi’s California district, then noted hurricanes seem to have a bias toward Republican states, “always at a convenient time.”

In this case, she said, that means November’s midterm elections.

She also wondered if Florida, where weather conditions and geography make the state vulnerable to big storms, is being targeted by the Deep State’s weather machines to punish Republican governor Ron DeSantis, who’s widely regarded as a GOP favorite in the 2024 presidential election.

Lorraine welcomed failed Delaware senate candidate Lauren Witzke to her program for help with her Category 5 conspiracy theory.

“Well, we know the technology does exist... they are literally trying to change people’s DNA through vaccination,” she said, without missing a step.

Naturally, she concluded, the Deep State would do something as dastardly as pummeling Red States with climate cannons.

Witzke said she’s not putting it past the elites to unleash a hurricane on Florida, possibly as retaliation for “getting rid of vaccine mandates or getting rid of child grooming.” She added: “But you’re not supposed to know about that, because that’s controversial or a conspiracy theory. No. It’s true.”

Video of the aspiring meteorologists sharing their delusions was promoted by watchdog group Right Wing Watch, which monitors right-wing activists and organizations.

Lorraine’s resume includes a show on “Infowars,” the fake news and conspiracy theory platform founded by Alex Jones, who has previously discussed “weather weapons” and is currently being sued in a Connecticut court over lies he broadcast regarding the 2012 shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School.

Witzke — a self-described Christian Nationalist — finished third in an online Ms. Stars & Stripes pageant that ended Friday. When asked by a Facebook follower if that contest would be “fixed like regular elections,” she responded, “I hope not.”
