What’s up with the facelift at The Falls? Here are 8 stores coming to the Kendall mall
Is The Falls looking a bit livelier these days? It’s not your imagination.
The ongoing “refresh,” as area director Jose Llorca calls it, nears completion in July with new lighting, handrails and other cosmetic tweaks to make the lush 44-year-old South Miami-Dade open-air mall feel younger.
The facelift comes in time to welcome nine new retailers. One of them, Hip Optical, which touts designer eyewear at non-designer prices, opened earlier this year across from the Apple Store and near True Food Kitchen and BJ’s Brewhouse.
The eight pending arrivals are JD Sports, G by GUESS, MANGO, Tous, LoveSac, Freddo Gelato, Rocket Fizz Soda Pop & Candy Shop and Purificación García.
Here’s what the new arrivals are and where they are set to open between the summer and the holiday season, according to Llorca.

▪ Freddo Traditional Gelato: The dessert company was founded in 1969 and serves Italian-style gelato.
Where: Centered between the coming TOUS and Marcelino Salon Gustofino.
▪ G by GUESS. Los Angeles-inspired fashion brand with an eye toward the trends. Look for denim, dresses, iconic logo pieces, shoes, handbags, accessories and shirts for women and men.
Where: Near the Apple Store between Express and Sephora.
▪ JD Sports. Sports and casual wear, sneakers including brands such as Nike, Adidas, Puma and The North Face, along with private labels such as Pink Soda and Supply & Demand.
Where: Next to Abercrombie & Fitch near Chico’s/Talbots main entrance.
▪ LoveSac: Returning to The Falls, the high-end home furnishing company features bean bag chairs, sectionals, and accessories in many colors, patterns, and fabrics.
Where: Near the Apple Store between L’Occitane and Yancy Naturals.
▪ MANGO: A European fashion group that offers Mediterranean style and culture via women’s and men’s clothing and accessories.

▪ Purificación García. Spanish designs, accessories, clothing for men and women.
Where: TBA.
▪ Rocket Fizz Soda Pop & Candy Shop: One-stop shop for soda and candy cravings with thousands of bottled soda pops and candies from all over the world.
Where: TBA.
▪ TOUS: Spanish jewelry, fashion and accessories. TOUS was founded in 1920, and remains based, in Catalonia, Spain.
Where: Near Coach and Chico’s.
