Is Facebook down? Thousands report Meta sites down. Company apologizes, says it's 'working on issue'

Hundreds of thousands of Facebook and Instagram users are reporting the social media sites being down.

An influx of social media users around the world have reported the site being down and having log-in issues, according to Downdetector. Reports of the issue started rolling in around 8 a.m. CT and the main problem, being kicked off the site and not having the ability to log back in.

Meta's administration site is also experiencing problems as of 10 a.m. CT. Metastatus.com is now back up and reports major disruptions in multiple areas like Facebook and Instagram shops, ads manger and Facebook login.

"We’re aware of the issue and are working on a resolution, we will keep you updated as we know more. We apologize for the disruption this is causing you," read multiple updates on the different sections metastatus.com has.

People flock to X to see what happened with Facebook, Instagram

Many users on X, formerly known as Twitter, believed that their other social media accounts had been hacked only to find out that Meta, Facebook and Instagram were all experiencing issues.

Many also made light of the situation with memes of people heading to X to see if the other social sites were down.

The outage comes as people are gearing up to vote for Super Tuesday in multiple states in the U.S. including Tennessee.

No information has been released on when these outages might be take to be fixed.
