“Apply the soap or scrub to your body, and with the water running, wet the glove and move it in a circular motion over the areas on your body you want to exfoliate,” she explains. “Generally speaking, most areas are safe to exfoliate, however, I would not over exfoliate your swimsuit area and face because these areas are more sensitive than other body parts,” she adds.

If you do exfoliate your face with a glove, use a gentle option without rough particles which can scratch and irritate the skin.

How to clean an exfoliating glove

Cleaning an exfoliating glove might sound like a hassle, but it's super easy and necessary. Lozina recommends thoroughly rinsing it after each use to help avoid buildup and throwing it in the washing machine with detergent at least once a month. Once clean, always air dry between uses.

Are exfoliating gloves better than a body scrub?

According to Lozina, yes. "They tend to be a gentler option since some scrubs can be quite harsh depending upon the exfoliant used," she says. And there's another benefit to using a glove versus a scrub: "They also allow for more precision when exfoliating."
