Exclusive: Neighbours star Hannah Monson shares Nicolette's death fears in tragic week

Neighbours spoilers follow.

Neighbours star Hannah Monson has revealed that her character Nicolette Stone will fear for her life as Veronica McLain takes revenge in this week's episodes.

Nicolette is one of the characters in danger this week as a relaxing holiday goes wrong for five Ramsay Street regulars.

Show bosses have confirmed that one character won't return home after Nicolette, Krista Sinclair, David Tanaka, Leo Tanaka and Aaron Brennan all head off for a relaxing break together.

There's trouble for Nicolette when Veronica pops up at the holiday residence, still holding a grudge over the breakdown of her marriage to Sasha.

Things don't look much better for Krista when Eden Shaw also arrives, having been released on bail.

Speaking exclusively to Digital Spy about Nicolette's reaction to Veronica's behaviour, Hannah teased: "How freaked out would you be if there's just a random lady in your house, or your holiday rental? That would be so scary.

"I think at that point Nicolette is like: 'Is she here to kill me?' It's such an invasion of her space and her privacy."

She continued: "It's crazy that it turns into this almost intimate moment between them.

"I think it's this crescendo in seeing both of these women stripped bare and how they've both messed up and how they can almost relate to one another. It's a nice journey in that regard."

Hannah took over the role of Nicolette late last year, appearing for the first time in Neighbours' Flashback Week. Before the show was cancelled by Channel 5, Nicolette was played by Charlotte Chimes.

Asked about the fan reaction to the recast, Hannah told us: "Well, I was forewarned that the fans don't like new characters and I thought: 'Okay, I've got two things working against me – I'm new and I'm replacing someone well-loved'.

"I wanted to show these people who I am a little bit and soften them up before I aired. So me, Matt [Wilson, who plays Aaron] and Takaya [Honda, who plays David] tried to make a little funny video to show that maybe she's okay, maybe she's fun.

"I'm glad that people are being nice to me mostly. I really respect our fan base – that's why we're back. They're so loyal and getting their approval means a lot."

Neighbours airs the dramatic holiday episodes on Wednesday, January 31 and Thursday, February 1.

Neighbours releases new episodes from Mondays to Thursdays for free on Amazon Freevee in the UK and US. In Australia, the show airs from Mondays to Thursdays at 4pm on Channel 10, with a 6.30pm repeat screening on 10 Peach.
