Exclusive: Hollyoaks star promises redemption story for Mason

Hollyoaks spoilers follow.

Hollyoaks star Frank Kauer has promised a redemption arc for his character Mason Chen-Williams.

A huge story last year saw schoolboy Mason be drawn into radicalised misogyny by show villain Eric.

Following Eric's siege at The Dog, and with the support of his family, Mason has been trying to turn his life back around.

Speaking to Digital Spy at an exclusive Inside Soap Awards photoshoot, Frank explained that this would continue being a theme for the rest of the year.

"We had some very heavy scenes at the end of the incel Eric storyline," he said. "It was really intense.

"For Mason, coming out of the Eric saga now, he is in his redemptive phase. He's trying to repair all the relationships he's severed.

"There are a lot of other young people coming into the cast, with Nate (Dillon), Oscar (Lucas) and Ellie (Freya). All the dynamics with Mason and the other kids are going to change. There's a lot of drama incoming."

'Incel Eric targets Maxine and Mason' is up for the Best Storyline prize at the Inside Soap Awards and you can watch our full behind-the-scenes video from the photoshoot at the top of the page.
