Ex-Green Bay Packers RB Has A Message For Aaron Rodgers

Between Aaron Rodgers‘ vacation in Hawaii, his desire to be traded and engagement to fiancé Shailene Woodley, who knows how long he’ll be away from football, let alone the Green Bay Packers? Rodgers’ ex-teammate, running back Jamaal Williams, doesn’t mind if he stays away from the game a little bit longer.

Williams, now playing for the Detroit Lions, has a great relationship with Rodgers. He spent four years in Green Bay taking handoffs from the 2020-21 NFL MVP. Regardless, they’re now rivals.

The Lions have undergone another full rebuild, showing Matt Patricia the exit and bringing in Dan Campbell to lead the new charge. If Detroit hopes to ever win the NFC North in coming years, taking down the Packers twice a year is a must. Simply put: the Lions don’t have an issue with Rodgers staying away from football at the moment.

Williams admitted as much to reporters earlier this week. The Lions running back said while he loves “12,” he doesn’t mind if Rodgers skips off-season programs. By doing so, it helps the Lions.

“I just want him just to be happy, live his life and do what he needs to do,” Williams said, via the Detroit Free Press. “But for the Lions, for my team and everything, uh, yeah, go ahead and just stay out for a minute. Let us go ahead and get loose. I mean, you know, we’ll go against him, too, but make it easier for us.“

It’s unclear if Aaron Rodgers will ever return to the Green Bay Packers. So far, he’s a no-show at the Packers’ off-season program.

Green Bay potentially taking a step back this upcoming season would be a welcome surprise for the Detroit Lions.

It obviously boils down how Rodgers handles the lead-up to the NFL’s 2021 season.
