Ewen MacIntosh, ‘Big Keith’ From UK’s The Office, Dead at 50
Ewen MacIntosh, the Welsh actor who played the accounts department’s Keith Bishop in Ricky Gervais‘ original BBC comedy The Office, has died at the age of 50.
The news was confirmed by Gervais himself in a post on X. “Extremely sad news,” he wrote Wednesday. “The very funny and very lovely Ewen Macintosh, known to many as ‘Big Keith’ from The Office, has passed away. An absolute original. RIP.”

A cause of death has yet to be revealed.
MacIntosh’s character, known in the show as “Big Keith,” was beloved for his deadpan delivery. The actor starred in 14 episodes of the British mockumentary gem, which originally aired between 2001-2003.

MacIntosh was born in Merionethshire, Wales and studied linguistics at the University of Edinburgh. While there, he got involved in the Edinburgh University Theatre Company and the improv troupe called The Improverts.
The actor’s other TV credits include Little Britain, The Unusual Suspects, Galavant, Drunk History UK, Mongrels, Miranda and Mile High. He also appeared in an episode of Gervais’ black dramedy After Life.
His most recent role was 2023’s Christmas horror anthology film Nightmare on 34th Street. He also appeared in other movies such as The Lobster, Shed of the Dead, The Bromley Boys and Snapshot Wedding.
