Robert Durst was cemented in the pop culture and true crime landscape with The Jinx docuseries, and now The Jinx — Part Two will explore and uncover even more about the late convicted killer's life and the investigations into the slayings that made him famous.
Durst, who died in January 2022, was convicted of one murder and suspected of several others. The Jinx unveiled some of the wild accusations against Durst and exposed some seriously creepy evidence that investigators missed, ultimately leading to his conviction for one murder.
We won't give away all the details revealed in The Jinx, but rest assured, there are a lot of dark twists and turns in Durst's story, and The Jinx — Part Two promises even more.
"In 2015 when The Jinx premiered, I think it's fair to say it kicked off a docu-true crime series wave that is still going today," HBO and Max content chief Casey Bloys said in a statement announcing the sequel docuseries. "We were introduced to a truly bizarre and dangerous person in Robert Durst. [Director] Andrew Jarecki is back and chronicling the aftermath of Robert Durst’s conviction … and the people who surrounded him."

What is the plot of The Jinx?
The Jinx followed investigations into Robert Durst, who became a national celebrity after he was accused of murdering his missing ex-wife Kathie Durst, his friend Susan Berman and his elderly neighbor Morris Black.

How did Robert Durst get convicted?
This is a more bare bones version of Durst's criminal history, which dates back decades, so it's worth watching The Jinx to get all the dirty details. That said, the gist:
Durst was arrested in November 2001 for the murder of Black, but ultimately was found not guilty, claiming that he killed Black in self-defense after Black allegedly threatened him with a gun. However, Durst did admit to dismembering Black. In September 2004, Durst pleaded guilty to jumping bail and tampering with evidence and was sentenced to five years in prison. He was given credit for time served while awaiting his trial and released on parole in December 2005.
After a letter with a crucial misspelling is discovered, Durst was officially charged with Berman's murder in 2015. He pleaded not guilty, and after numerous delays, was found guilty in September 2021.
Durst was formally charged with the murder of Kathie Durst the following month, but died in January 2022 before standing trial.
