Everyone Has Same Reaction To Seeing Verne Lundquist This Morning
There are only a few places EESPN’s College GameDay hasn’t visited during its illustrious history.
On Saturday morning, College GameDay kicked off from Augusta, Georgia. In a year where nothing seems normal, the Masters was rescheduled from April to November, allowing College GameDay to broadcast from Augusta this morning.
That gave college football fans a chance to see a former legend in the broadcasting business. Verne Lunquist announced his retirement from the game of football four years ago.
Although Lundquist stepped away from the game of college football, he continues to call the Masters. During Saturday morning’s broadcast of College GameDay, Lundquist visited the set.
He sat and spoke with ESPN’s Tom Rinaldi for a short interview before getting back to his duties on No. 16. Of course, college football fans loved finally being able to see Verne back in the landscape of college football – sort of.
Here’s some of the reaction from around social media.
Tom Rinaldi and Verne Lundquist on the same set, sharing stories of College Football, Golf and Broadcasting… this is sensory overload for me. Instant goosebumps. Thank you @CollegeGameDay for making this happen. #YesSir pic.twitter.com/uhKRcggMTN

Fans obviously miss hearing Verne Lundquist on the call for college football games.
However, if they tune into the Masters on Saturday and Sunday, Verne will be in the tower on No. 16 giving the call for one of the most well-known holes in golf.
