Sean Payton has officially left the New Orleans Saints after 15 seasons and the same joke about his replacement is going around.

Kevin James is playing Payton in a movie titled “Home Team” that’s set to hit Netflix this Friday. It follows the life of Payton when he was suspended from the NFL for a year because of the bounty gate scandal.

Now that Payton has retired, the NFL world is peppering social media with the same joke.

Payton will finish his Saints tenure with a 152-89 regular-season record and one Super Bowl in 2009. The Saints took down the Colts in that game, 31-17.

Since then, Payton led the Saints to the playoffs numerous times, but couldn’t get back to that big game.

The closest he came was in 2019 against the Rams when pass interference wasn’t called on a controversial play with the game on the line. L.A. ended up winning the game in overtime before losing in the Super Bowl to New England.

Defensive coordinator Dennis Allen could be the favorite to replace Payton, but it’s likely they’ll interview some candidates outside the organization as well.
