Every Xbox Game Coming To PS5 And Nintendo Switch

Xbox games on PS5 and Switch

Yesterday’s Nintendo Direct: Partner Showcase brought with it an announcement that gamers have been waiting for on bated breath for a couple weeks now: Xbox games were coming to Nintendo Switch. The mere rumor that Microsoft was losing its exclusivity on a few games was enough to send the internet into meltdown, so much so that Phil Spencer had to record a podcast specifically addressing the rumors and revealing they were true. Now, we know exactly which Xbox games are coming to Switch and PS5, and when.

Four games in total are losing their Xbox-exclusive moniker, all of which were developed by internal(ish) studios under Microsoft’s banner. Those games are Grounded, Sea of Thieves, Pentiment, and Hi-Fi Rush. Some of those are coming to both Switch and PS5, while others are only coming to PS5 — presumably the Switch can’t quite handle the others, at least not yet.

We’ve put together this handy guide of every Xbox Game Studios game coming to Switch and PS5, including their release dates. If other games get announced in the future, we’ll come back and update this with those, too.

Pentiment – Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5

Pentiment was one of the games announced as coming to Switch in the Nintendo Direct: Partner Showcase, and it’s definitely a perfect fit for the handheld console. With a flat, simple art style and gameplay that is perfect for chilling in bed with on a rainy day, Pentiment is one of Obsidian’s best games in recent years. It’s also coming to PS4 and PS5, and is already on PC and Xbox, so players anywhere can enjoy it.

Pentiment will be available on Nintendo Switch, PS4, and PS5 on February 22, 2024.

Hi-Fi Rush – PS5

Hi-Fi Rush was the game that kicked off all of these rumors in the first place, with those in the know saying the action rhythm game could come to other platforms as far back as the game’s release in early 2023. A subsequent datamine of the PC version of the game revealed t-shirts with PlayStation and Nintendo theming, although it seems like it’s not coming to Switch anytime soon. Hi-Fi Rush was accidentally leaked for PS5 yesterday, but has since been confirmed by the official Xbox blog.

Hi-Fi Rush will be available on PS5 on March 19, 2024.

Grounded – Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5

Another game from Obsidian Entertainment, we were actually fairly surprised that it was announced to be coming to Switch in the Partner Showcase. It’s a pretty intense game, all things considered, but Obsidian seems to have put the work in to scale it down to the handheld hardware. The footage in the Partner Showcase didn’t exactly look stellar, but there’s still a few months of polish left to go. Grounded, of course, is also coming to PS4 and PS5, and cross-play will be supported across all platforms.

Grounded will be available on Nintendo Switch, PS4, and PS5 on April 16, 2024.

Sea of Thieves – PS5

If Skull and Bones, the first ever quadruple A game ever, isn’t tickling your fancy, Sea of Thieves just might do the job. It’s a multiplayer adventure pirate game where you can team up with your buddies and scour for treasure, get into naval battles with other pirates, and sing sea shanties. It’s a lot of fun, but finding a crew has sometimes been a bit cumbersome. It coming to PS5 should hopefully expand the player base a bit and make teaming up with pirate pals just that much easier.

Sea of Thieves will be available on PS5 on April 30, 2024.
