Every New Jersey grocery store open on Thanksgiving 2023

PSA: Do not go to the grocery store on Thanksgiving.

PSA (cont'd): Do not go to the grocery store on the two days before Thanksgiving, either.

Unless you want to dodge falling cans and screaming kids just fast enough to stand in a checkout line longer than the one at the DMV during COVID, supermarkets on November 21-23 are not the move.

But, if, on Thanksgiving morning, you find yourself missing the French's fried onions that go on top of the green bean casserole — or with a nephew that won't eat sweet potatoes without Jet-Puffed Minis — and you absolutely need to risk your life in the ShopRite of Dover? We got you.

Here are the hours of all the North Jersey grocery stores open on (and around) Thanksgiving Day.

2023 NJ grocery store Thanksgiving hours:

  • ACME: Open 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. in select stores on Thanksgiving Day. Others will be closed, call ahead. Normal hours on Black Friday and Wednesday the 22.

  • Foodtown: Most open, but hours vary by each location. Call your local spot before visiting.

  • Kings Food Markets: 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day.

  • ShopRite: Regular hours, but double check with your local store.

  • Stew Leonard's: 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thanksgiving Day. Extended hours 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Tuesday the 21 and Wednesday the 22.

  • Stop and Shop: Regular hours all week.

  • Uncle Giuseppe's Marketplace: 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day. Extended hours 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. Monday through Wednesday for early shopping. Normal hours resume on Black Friday.

  • Wegmans: Early closure at 4 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day. Normal hours throughout the rest of the week.

  • Whole Foods: Open on Thanksgiving Day, with modified hours varying by store. Most are open 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Normal hours throughout the rest of the week.

And, just an FYI, these local grocery stores will be closed on Thanksgiving: Aldi, BJ’s Wholesale Club, Costco, Sam’s Club, Target, Trader Joe’s and Walmart.

So, if you want to serve Kirkland's steamy rotisserie chicken instead of turkey this year? Make sure to pick it up by Wednesday the 22.
