Everton vs Manchester United

18:32

The full-time whistle sounds at Goodison, and Everton are beaten on their first outing since having 10 points deducted, going down 3-0 to Manchester United! After being stunned by Garnacho's incredible overhead kick in the third minute, Everton were terrific for most of the first half, spurred on by a raucous home crowd as Calvert-Lewin, Garner, Doucoure and Gueye all spurned excellent chances. United made them pay for those misses after the interval, when Everton simply failed to replicate the same intensity. Young's clumsy foul on Martial allowed Rashford to convert from the penalty spot, then Martial beat Pickford with a clever finish to put the result beyond all doubt. Everton remain five points adrift of safety following Luton's win over Crystal Palace on Saturday – they have a huge fight on their hands to survive after losing 10 of the 14 points they have earned this term. United are up to sixth ahead of their huge Champions League trip to Galatasaray on Wednesday, when a defeat would see the Red Devils eliminated from Europe's premier club competition. That's all from us, so until next time, thank you for joining us and goodbye!

FULL-TIME: EVERTON 0-3 MANCHESTER UNITED.

Everton vs Manchester United

18:26

Everton are still pushing for a goal as Gueye's blocked shot spins out to Dobbin… but the substitute fires over Onana's crossbar from an inside-left position. That will be that at Goodison!

Everton vs Manchester United

18:25

OFF THE LINE! Everton win a corner on the left, which is swung to the back post by Garner. Tarkowski heads it across goal and Harrison gets a slight touch with his knee, but it's scrambled off the goal line with multiple red shirts back around Onana. That sums up Everton's efforts in the final third – it simply won't go in for them!

Everton vs Manchester United

18:23

This is the fourth time that Everton have trailed by three or more goals in a Premier League home game in 2023 (also against Brighton, Newcastle United and Manchester City) - their most in a calendar year in the competition.

Everton vs Manchester United

18:22

WIDE! Everton go close to a consolation as Chermiti drives infield from the left before firing a shot at goal from 25 yards out. It has Onana worried, but it ultimately fades away from the top-right corner and drifts wide. Unlucky!

Everton vs Manchester United

18:20

Yellow Card Idrissa Gana Gueye

Everton vs Manchester United

18:19

United work the corner short before crossing for Maguire, but the defender's awkward header is bobbling wide of goal anyway before Pickford claims it. The intensity has really dropped now, with United cruising towards a comfortable win.

Everton vs Manchester United

18:18

Substitution Abdoulaye Doucouré Lewis Norman Dobbin

Everton vs Manchester United

18:18

Rashford has moved into a central position since Martial was substituted, with Pellistri and Mejbri flanking him. He's found by Fernandes as United threaten on the break… but Tarkowski dives in to prod Rashford's attempted return pass wide! Corner.

Everton vs Manchester United

18:16

Much has been made of United's unconvincing performances in recent weeks, and their 1-0 win over Luton last time out was their 20th by a one-goal margin in the Premier League since the start of last season; no other side during that time has more than 13. They look set for a much more comprehensive win here!

Everton vs Manchester United

18:16

United are hunting a fourth goal as Dalot skips inside from the left before slipping the ball into the path of Pellistri, but the substitute's powerful drive is held by Pickford.

Everton vs Manchester United

18:13

Mykolenko clatters Pellistri, who is playing out on the United right, and the visitors get a free-kick in a crossing position. That was a frustrated challenge from the Everton man. The Toffees just haven't been able to muster any intensity since the break.

Everton vs Manchester United

18:13

Substitution Anthony Jordan Martial Hannibal Mejbri

Everton vs Manchester United

18:11

Garner goes for the spectacular from 30 yards out, but he sends a wild volley spinning away to the right of goal. That was never troubling Onana. With the game surely gone, Dyche is preparing to withdraw Calvert-Lewin.

Everton vs Manchester United

18:11

The atmosphere is very different at Goodison now, with Everton's fans stunned into silence and the travelling contingent making all the noise. Credit to United – they were poor in the first half and had several lucky escapes, but they've stepped things up since the restart.

Everton vs Manchester United

18:11

Substitution Dominic Nathaniel Calvert-Lewin Youssef Ramalho Chermiti

Everton vs Manchester United

18:09

WOODWORK! Everton almost pull one back as Mykolenko charges into the penalty area before blasting a shot across goal and off the underside of the crossbar. Onana was definitely beaten, but the ball ricochets to safety. It simply hasn't been Everton's day!

Everton vs Manchester United

Everton vs Manchester United

18:02

We're past the 70-minute mark now, and both managers are preparing substitutions. Everton need to hit back soon in order to set up a grandstand finish.

Everton vs Manchester United

18:02

Waste! It's another uninspiring corner from Everton, with Dalot nodding the initial delivery away before Young plays an awful pass up into the air, giving the defence time to reset and clear. Dyche can't be happy with his team's failure to make those kinds of situations count.

Everton vs Manchester United

18:02

Substitution Ashley Simon Young Nathan Kenneth Patterson

Everton vs Manchester United

18:02

Substitution Dwight James Matthew McNeil Arnaut Danjuma Adam Groeneveld

Everton vs Manchester United

18:01

Substitution Kobbie Boateng Mainoo Sofyan Amrabat

Everton vs Manchester United

18:00

Good block! Everton seem to have woken up again now. Another Harrison cross takes a deflection and spins to Doucoure, who peels away to the back post to hit it on the volley, but Dalot throws himself in front of the powerful strike. Corner.

Everton vs Manchester United

17:59

United come under more pressure as Young's right-wing cross is headed behind by Lindelof at the near post. Onana flaps at the resulting corner, but he's unchallenged as he claims the loose ball at the second attempt.

Everton vs Manchester United

17:57

Decent opening! Everton break through Harrison on the right, and he stands up a delivery for Calvert-Lewin in the middle. However, the delivery is slightly behind the striker and Maguire can help it back to his goalkeeper. With a little more accuracy, Everton might have cut the deficit there.

Everton vs Manchester United

17:56

Over! From the resulting corner, Garnacho peels away to strike a half-cleared delivery on the volley, but he sends a wild effort well over the crossbar.

Everton vs Manchester United

17:55

Now Mainoo finds Fernandes running in behind on the right with a great lofted pass. Fernandes pauses as he bears down on goal with the angle tight, before looking for Garnacho at the back post, but Tarkowski slides in to block his low cross.

Everton vs Manchester United

17:54

United have definitely improved since their second goal, with Mykolenko forced to put it behind for a right-wing corner under pressure from Rashford. Fernandes' eventual delivery, however, is headed clear by Calvert-Lewin.

Everton vs Manchester United

17:52

Everton have won just one of their last eight Premier League meetings with Manchester United (D4 L3), a 1-0 home win in April 2022. They need to produce something special to avoid another miserable result against the Red Devils.

Everton vs Manchester United

17:51

A cross from the Everton right is cleared as far as Mykolenko… but he drags a poor volley wide of the bottom-right corner from the edge of the area. Everton are still showing plenty of endeavour here, but the belief seems to have gone from the crowd since Rashford made it 2-0.

Everton vs Manchester United

17:51

Rashford's successful penalty was just his second goal in all competitions this season, having gone 12 games without netting for United since scoring in September's defeat to Arsenal. He'll be delighted at having ended his drought, with regular penalty taker Fernandes handing him the ball.

Everton vs Manchester United

17:50

Onana punches the resulting corner clear under pressure, then Everton's fans shout for a foul on Branthwaite from the second cross into the area, but the referee shakes his head. That was something of a desperate appeal.

Everton vs Manchester United

17:48

ALMOST A STUNNING RESPONSE! Everton look to hit back as the ball drops kindly for Gueye, who hits a swerving half-volley on the outside of his right foot. It looks destined to find the top-left corner, but Onana springs to his right to tip it over. Great save!

Everton vs Manchester United

17:45

PENALTY GIVEN! Martial's booking is retracted as the referee points to the spot after watching the footage back! The next question is whether Young's foul was worthy of a second caution... The Everton full-back avoids a sending off, but Rashford has a chance to put United 2-0 up from the spot!

Everton vs Manchester United

17:44

Penalty Goal Marcus Rashford

Everton vs Manchester United

17:44

John Brooks has been sent to the pitchside monitor for a review, and this looks ominous for Everton… Young clipped Martial's foot as he broke into the penalty area.

Everton vs Manchester United

17:43

DIVE OR PENALTY? Martial plays a give-and-go with Fernandes then goes down under Young's challenge as he reaches the area. The referee books him for simulation, but the VAR are going to check this… It did look like Young caught Martial…

Everton vs Manchester United

17:41

United have only managed five touches in Everton's box so far, while Garnacho's goal came from their only shot attempted from inside the area. Another Red Devils attack breaks down as Martial fails to hold the ball up.

Everton vs Manchester United

17:41

Yellow Card Anthony Jordan Martial

Everton vs Manchester United

17:39

The first few minutes of the second half have seen a real drop in intensity, with United slowing things down and keeping possession patiently at the back. Everton try to up the ante through Harrison, but his cross is held by Onana.

Everton vs Manchester United

17:38

Garnacho stays down, holding his hand, after being outmuscled by Garner as McTominay blasts a wild effort well over Pickford's crossbar. Garner may have accidentally stepped on the winger, but he's soon back to his feet and looks fine to continue.

Everton vs Manchester United

17:37

United haven't lost a Premier League match in which they led at half-time since September 2014 (3-5 v Leicester City), winning 118 and drawing 19 of the 137 games in which they've been ahead at the break since then. Can Everton turn this one around?

Everton vs Manchester United

17:35

Everton get the ball rolling for the second half, with neither manager turning to their substitutes' benches during the interval.

Everton vs Manchester United

17:30

United have only attempted one shot since opening the scoring through Garnacho's acrobatic effort, while Everton have had 10 shots and hit the target four times. Dyche will want more of the same after half-time, only with more cutting edge in front of goal. Despite the scoreline, Ten Hag must be concerned about United's performance levels and will be desperate for them to show more control from here on out.

Everton vs Manchester United

17:26

The referee blows the half-time whistle and Manchester United enter the break with a 1-0 lead over Everton at a raucous Goodison Park, but the scoreline certainly doesn't tell the whole story of a breathless first 45 minutes! We saw one of the best goals of this – or any – Premier League season within three minutes as Garnacho scored with an unbelievable overhead kick, putting Wayne Rooney's iconic effort against Manchester City to shame! Since then, however, it has been one-way traffic with Everton utterly dominant, carving out chances for Calvert-Lewin, Garner, Doucoure and Gueye. The Toffees have continually fluffed their lines in front of goal, however, and somehow, United are still ahead. It's still all to play for in the second half!

Everton vs Manchester United

17:19

HALF-TIME: EVERTON 0-1 MANCHESTER UNITED.

Everton vs Manchester United

17:19

Dyche is fuming as Fernandes catches Harrison and the referee opts against awarding a free-kick. That was a clear kick by the United captain, who was lucky to avoid being booked.

Everton vs Manchester United

17:19

The home fans again appeal for Garnacho to be shown a yellow card after a collision with Young. There wasn't much in that one, and Everton fail to make the resulting free-kick count.

Everton vs Manchester United

17:17

We will have two minutes of first-half stoppage time here, with United clinging on to their 1-0 lead.

Everton vs Manchester United

17:17

Fernandes is chased all the way back to his corner flag by two blue shirts and has to blast the ball out for a throw-in. United have been terrible in the last 20 minutes or so, they desperately need half-time.

Everton vs Manchester United

17:16

The shot count is currently seven to two in Everton's favour, with the Toffees winning the xG (expected goals) battle 1.01-0.09. The hosts have been excellent in their approach play, but their finishing has been so erratic.

Everton vs Manchester United

17:15

EVERTON MISS ANOTHER CHANCE! United are waiting to concede at present. Calvert-Lewin charges infield before offloading to Doucoure, who in turn finds Gueye to his right. The midfielder pulls the trigger inside the area… but he's off balance and sends a terrible finish high and wide. Everton could be out of sight!

Everton vs Manchester United

17:13

ANOTHER MISS FROM EVERTON! Young finds space out on the right before whipping a lovely cross onto the head of Calvert-Lewin. This time, the striker gets under the delivery and sends his header over from a great position. Everton have been utterly dominant in the last 20 minutes, but they're not making it count!

Everton vs Manchester United

17:12

Pickford comes forward to the halfway line to lift a free-kick out to the left corner of United's box. McNeil wins the knock-down for Branthwaite, but Maguire outmuscles his fellow defender as United get the goal-kick. Five to go until the break.

Everton vs Manchester United

17:10

Everton have conceded first on 40 occasions against United in the Premier League, and they have only come back to win from that position once (D5 L34) - 3-1 in February 2010.

Everton vs Manchester United

17:10

Mainoo gets forward for United now, reaching the byline on the right-hand side before seeing his low cross cleared by Garner. The youngster has impressed so far, he seems to be relishing this physical midfield battle.

Everton vs Manchester United

17:09

Shaw brings United some respite as he draws a foul from Doucoure with a clever dummy. Doucoure is on a booking – he needs to be careful!

Everton vs Manchester United

17:08

Everton are all over United like a rash. Another direct ball forwards is knocked down for McNeil, who blasts a shot wide via a deflection off Mainoo. Everton fail to make anything of the resulting corner, but United are coming under increasing pressure now – they can't get out.

Everton vs Manchester United

17:07

MASSIVE MISS FROM DOUCOURE! How is it still 1-0?! McNeil bustles down the left wing before sending in a low cross, which finds Doucoure totally unmarked near the penalty spot. He has all the time in the world to place his shot, but he puts it wide of the bottom-right corner! United's goal is living a charmed life!

Everton vs Manchester United

17:05

TWO BIG CHANCES! Some incredible defending from Mainoo denies Everton! Calvert-Lewin latches onto a fortunate bounce to prod a shot towards the bottom-right corner, and Onana dives down to tip it away. He only pushes it as far as Garner, who turns it goalwards, but Mainoo slides back onto his own goal line to hook it clear!

Everton vs Manchester United

17:04

CHANCE! That's as close as Everton have come! Calvert-Lewin is completely free as he meets the corner with a powerful header around six yards out, but he sends it straight at Onana! A big chance goes begging!

Everton vs Manchester United

17:02

Harrison switches to the left-hand side to run at Dalot, crossing behind off the full-back for a corner. What can Everton do with this?

Everton vs Manchester United

17:01

The home fans are furious as Doucoure is booked for dissent. McTominay fouled Harrison and Garnacho petulantly kicked the ball away – Doucoure was simply trying to point that out to the referee John Brooks!

Everton vs Manchester United

17:01

A fortunate bounce allows Martial to send Garnacho scampering down the United left, but Branthwaite comes across to take the ball off him in a composed manner. Good defending.

Everton vs Manchester United

16:59

Everton have had 59 per cent of the possession over the last 10 minutes. After being stunned by Garnacho's rapid opener, they've built their way into this game with United now looking to keep things tight.

Everton vs Manchester United

16:58

Well wide. McNeil's poor delivery is headed out by Mainoo, then Mykolenko sends a dismal effort miles wide of the left-hand post from 25 yards out. Everton just need to show more care in the final third, they're definitely still in this contest!

Everton vs Manchester United

16:56

Everton win a free-kick in a crossing position on the right flank as McTominay carelessly kicks through the back of Gueye's foot. The home fans want a booking for the Scot, but it's not forthcoming. Garner and McNeil are over the dead ball…

Everton vs Manchester United

16:55

United's free-kick comes to nothing and Young looks for Doucoure over the top, but Shaw is there to help it back to Onana. A huge cheer then goes up as the goalkeeper slices his kick into the crowd – Everton might get some joy out of pressing United high here.

Everton vs Manchester United

16:53

Former United player Young becomes the first man in the referee's book after bringing Garnacho down with a terribly mistimed challenge. He has already seen red against Liverpool this season, now he's walking a tightrope again!

Everton vs Manchester United

16:52

Now Gueye floats a cross towards the far post and over Doucoure and Calvert-Lewin, who were both anticipating a near-post delivery.

Everton vs Manchester United

16:52

Everton are showing plenty of fight here, but are just lacking the quality required. Calvert-Lewin and Garner combine to work the ball wide to Harrison, but his lacklustre cross is blocked at source.

Everton vs Manchester United

16:49

Garnacho goes down under a nudge from Young and wins the free-kick in midfield. His spectacular opener, timed at two minutes and 13 seconds, was United's fastest goal in a Premier League game since March 2021 against Manchester City (Bruno Fernandes, 1:40).

Everton vs Manchester United

16:48

Everton have lost 39 times to United in the Premier League (W10 D13), and they will become the first side to lose 40 games to a single opponent in the competition's history if the Red Devils see this lead out.

Everton vs Manchester United

16:47

Ten Hag is sat up in the directors' box for this one, having been given a touchline ban for an accumulation of yellow cards. He'll be happy with what he has seen so far, but Everton are playing at a high intensity and are keeping United on their toes.

Everton vs Manchester United

16:46

Over! Fernandes' kick is floated out to Shaw on the edge of the box, and he sends a half-volley just a foot or so over Pickford's crossbar. United appeal for another corner, but this one isn't given.

Everton vs Manchester United

16:45

Rashford beats Mykolenko on United's right-hand side before blasting a wayward shot over the crossbar. To the fury of the home fans, the referee points for a corner – it didn't seem to take a deflection!

Everton vs Manchester United

16:43

Protesting their 10-point deduction, Everton's fans have just marked the 10th minute of the match by raising their pink cards aloft and chanting about the Premier League. As you can probably imagine, they weren't kind words.

Everton vs Manchester United

16:42

Half chance! Calvert-Lewin races onto Young's ball down the right flank, being played on by Dalot. He checks past Lindelof before shooting on his left foot, but it's a tame effort which Onana can easily claim.

Everton vs Manchester United

16:41

In the form of Mainoo and Garnacho, this is the first time United have started two teenagers in a Premier League game since May 2021 against Wolves (Amad and Anthony Elanga). Ten Hag's team selection has certainly paid off so far!

Everton vs Manchester United

16:40

Harrison is furious as the assistant gives United a goal-kick when Mainoo appeared to touch the ball behind for a corner. Everton quickly recover and come again, looking to keep the tempo high, but Maguire heads a right-wing cross away.

Everton vs Manchester United

16:39

Now Garnacho attempts to latch onto a long ball over the top, but Pickford is off his line quickly to gather it. Everton need to settle things down after that remarkable opener.

Everton vs Manchester United

16:38

It's the United fans who can be heard now, with 'viva Garnacho' the chant. That was a simply draw-dropping finish.

As the teams emerged from the tunnel, the home fans held up thousands of pink cards to protest Everton's points deduction, also drowning out the Premier League anthem with ferocious boos. This stadium is a real bear pit for this one!

Everton vs Manchester United

16:32

We're under way amid a raucous atmosphere at Goodison as Fernandes gets the ball rolling! The Everton fans are right behind their embattled team, can the players use their off-pitch woes as motivation here?

Everton vs Manchester United

16:29

The atmosphere is certainly building at Goodison, with a large-scale protest against Everton's 10-point deduction already having taken place outside the famous old ground. It's sure to be a cauldron of noise for this one – how will Ten Hag's often fragile United side cope?

Everton vs Manchester United

16:25

Ten Hag, meanwhile, makes three alterations to the United side which edged past Luton at Old Trafford last time out. Christian Eriksen and Rasmus Hojlund have joined the likes of Casemiro, Mason Mount, Lisandro Martinez and Jonny Evans in the treatment room, so Martial and Mainoo come in, the latter making his first Premier League start at the base of midfield. There's also a welcome return for Shaw, who replaces Reguilon at left-back, and former Everton loanee Van de Beek is among the substitutes.

Everton vs Manchester United

16:21

Dyche makes one change to the Everton side which beat Crystal Palace 3-2 prior to the international break, and it's an enforced one with midfielder Amadou Onana ruled out with a calf injury. That means Gueye – who came off the bench to net the winner at Selhurst Park – comes in alongside Garner.

Everton vs Manchester United

16:09

United, meanwhile, sit eighth in the table ahead of this game after making an underwhelming start to the season under Erik ten Hag. The Red Devils have eased the pressure on the Dutchman somewhat with four wins in their last five league matches, though their performances in 1-0 victories over Fulham and Luton left plenty to be desired. Ten Hag is still facing intense scrutiny with his team well off the pace, and a series of injuries to key players has done little to help his cause.
