St. Clair County offers its residents and visitors a plethora of walking and biking trails.

The weather is getting warming, trees are turning green and the flowers have been blooming. It's easy to bask in the nature of St. Clair County by walking along its many pathways. Friends of the St. Clair River Executive Director Sheri Faust said getting into nature can offer people a stress-free environment to unwind and connect with the local scenery.

"Hiking and biking are great ways to passively recreate outside," Faust said. "Whether its within city limits or in a more natural area, getting into nature can offer some mental, physical and emotional benefits."

There are a few upcoming events residents and visitors can take advantage of to experience the local trails.

The Friends of the St. Clair River will be bringing back its seasonal Tuesday Trek series on May 7. These weekly walks will see attendees walking along a one mile stretch of the St. Clair River while removing invasive plant species with members of group. Participants will meet weekly at 10 a.m. at the Great Lakes Maritime Center in Port Huron.

St. Clair County Parks and Recreation will be hosting its annual Wildflower Walk at 10 a.m. on May 11 in Columbus County Park. Naturalists Kirsten Lyons and Mary Kay Weber will be exploring the variety of wildflowers within the park. Attendees can meet them in front of the park lodge.
