Even served in a shoe, the food matches the scenic view at new ‘full tilt’ Boise restaurant

If you’ve ever indulged at Sid’s Garage — or even strolled past and heard music cranking out the door — you know it’s not intended to be subtle.

Massive milkshakes get turbocharged with candy and other sweets. Or spiked with booze. Servers torch-smoke bacon that dangles from mini-clotheslines. Orders of fried green beans are presented inside brightly colored shoes. (Sole food!)

Sid’s culinary currency is unabashed, self-described “full-throttle” fare.

Now there’s even more stimulation — at a new, “biggest and baddest” location. But it’s not all about sensory overload.

With restaurants already in downtown Boise and at The Village at Meridian, the local chain has opened a third Treasure Valley destination — at Barber Station. Next to the Boise Greenbelt. Freshly built at 3035 E. Barber Valley Drive, Sid’s Garage has a sizable, inviting patio. With a view overlooking a large, tranquil pond surrounded by vegetation.

In the right moment, could Sid’s feel almost … serene?

No way, Grandma! A restaurant doesn’t hang a motorcycle from the rafters if that’s the point. (Or refer to its outdoor patio as “sexy.”)

Still, this Sid’s isn’t quite like the others, co-owner Will Primavera admits. As new construction, it was the first one he and his wife, Nicole, were able to mold from the ground up. “We’re stoked,” he says. “This is the one we’re flexin’ on the most.”

There are unique touches, whether it’s the rockin’ mural from Boise’s Sector Seventeen, or two truck-bed tables made from parts salvaged from Arizona junkyards.

Walking through the restaurant, I barely noticed the music. Yet there are more speakers than at any other Sid’s. And the decibel level essentially is the same, Primavera says. Was my internal volume turned down subliminally by a mental massage from the scenery outside?

Entertainment-starved Boiseans in the Harris Ranch area will be jacked. Still operating in soft-opening mode, Sid’s already has racked up multiple online back slaps. “The view is almost as good as the burgers and service! Love this place. It’s RIGHT off the Greenbelt and the patio is incredible,” one Google reviewer wrote. Proclaimed another: “The massive mural on one of the walls is worth coming to see on its own!”

Despite the enthusiastic 4.8-out-of-5.0-star average from five online ratings, Sid’s is still “kicking the tires,” Primavera says. A formal grand opening will come in the next couple of weeks.

But if you’re craving an “insane” half-pound hamburger — or a cocktail from a full bar — there’s a new option revving up in East Boise. Just don’t be surprised if you can’t easily snag a spot on Sid’s patio once summer arrives.

“We’ve got the heaters out there, the fire pit overlooking the lake,” Primavera says. “We’re gonna start Sunday brunches soon. That’ll be the first Sid’s with a build-your-own bloody Mary bar. We’re going full tilt here.”
