Eva Mendes Praises Ryan Gosling's “SNL” Sketch About Having Cuban Wife: 'Made This Cuban Mama So Happy'

One of Ryan Gosling's 'Saturday Night Live' sketches on April 13 featured him playing a character who adopts a Cuban accent after marrying a Cuban woman

Eva Mendes is shouting out a memorably hilarious moment from Ryan Gosling's recent Saturday Night Live hosting stint.

In an April 16 Instagram post, Mendes, who is of Cuban descent, shared the video of Gosling's "Can't Tonight" sketch from the April 13 episode of SNL. In a caption to the video, she expressed her appreciation for the bit, which in part revolved around Gosling's character humorously adopting a Cuban accent after marrying a Cuban woman.

"My Cuban Papi made this Cuban Mami so happy with this!! Years of hanging out with my Dad paid off," Mendes, 50, wrote in a caption to her post.

Among a number of sketches Gosling, 43, took part in during his latest appearance on SNL included him and SNL cast member Marcello Hernández portraying two friends who try to convince a third man (Kenan Thompson) to go out with them to a club while at a restaurant together. In the sketch, Thompson at one point jests that Gosling — who speaks with a Latino accent throughout — "is from Tennessee, but ever since he married a Cuban woman, he different."

"A Cuban wife can change you," Gosling jokes in return, alternating between a stereotypical American accent and a heavy Latino accent as he jokes that he speaks "like a Cuban papi" after marrying a Cuban woman.
