Eva Longoria is stepping in front of the camera again! The Flamin' Hot director and Desperate Housewives alum is returning to the small screen in Apple TV+'s new dramedy Land of Women.

"It’s actually really funny," Longoria told The Hollywood Reporter of the show, created by Ramón Campos, Gema R. Neira and Paula Fernández.

The actress recalled telling Campos, "'Write me something in Spain. I want to go shoot in the wine country in Spain. I’ve never shot in Spain!’ And literally not even less than a year later, he came back with a script, an idea, a book. I was like, ‘Oh, we’re doing this. You wrote this. Okay!’ So I felt like I had to go do it."

Who is in the cast of Land of Women?

The dramedy stars Longoria as Gala, a New York empty nester. Her college-age daughter is portrayed by newcomer Victoria Bazúa, while Carmen Maura plays Longoria's mother in the show.

The series was inspired by author Sandra Barneda’s novel La Tierra de Las Mujeres (Land of Women).

What is Land of Women about?

The show centers around Gala, her daughter and mother. Gala's life gets "turned upside down when her husband implicates the family in financial improprieties, and she is forced to flee the city" with her daughter and mom, according to Apple TV+. "To escape the dangerous criminals to whom Gala’s now-vanished husband is indebted, the three women hide in the same charming wine town in northern Spain that Gala’s mother fled 50 years ago, vowing never to return. The women seek to start anew and hope their identities will remain unknown, but gossip in the small town quickly spreads, unraveling their deepest family secrets and truths."

Speaking to THR, Longoria described Land of Women as a "multi-generational show about these three women who really don’t know each other, even though it’s grandma, mother and daughter, it’s like they’re strangers to each other and this adventure leads them back to each other."
