Euphoria's Hunter Schafer is creeped out in the first trailer for Cuckoo.

Ahead of its Berlin International Film Festival premiere next week, fans can get a feel for the icy horrors that await Schafer's character Gretchen, who leaves America to live with her father and his new family in a German Alps resort.

In the clip, she investigates an open front door before producing a switchblade to defend herself.

The synopsis for Cuckoo teases: "Arriving at their future residence, they are greeted by Mr. König, her father's boss, who takes an inexplicable interest in Gretchen's mute half-sister Alma.

"Something doesn't seem right in this tranquil vacation paradise. Gretchen is plagued by strange noises and bloody visions until she discovers a shocking secret that also concerns her own family."

Meanwhile, Schafer seems very much interested in playing the iconic video game hero Zelda on the big screen, following some online fan casting.

"I mean, yes, that would be cool," she told Entertainment Tonight. "Like an elf? Yeah. I mean I played that video game a bunch of times when I was a a kid. That's such a good game. Wow."

A social media suggestion for Schafer to take on the role of Princess Zelda went viral in March 2022, receiving 464,000 likes.

"If Nintendo ever needs a Princess Zelda, she can do the job," tweeted @Skyferrori.

Cuckoo premieres May 3 in US cinemas, with its UK release date TBA.
