Keven Turen, a producer known for HBO's Euphoria and The Idol, has died. He was just 44.

A spokesperson for Penske Media Corporation, which is the parent company of The Hollywood Reporter, confirmed his passing to the publication late on Nov. 12, 2023, but didn't provide any further details about his passing at the time.

“Despite his many achievements in Hollywood, Kevin’s greatest passion was his family and friends,” Jay Penske, the CEO of the corporation and a personal friend of Turen, told the publication. “He was so proud of his children. He and his wife, Evelina, were resolved that their children grow up with great values and ensured they make a difference in the broader world. Our collective heart breaks for them, and we all feel such a profound sense of loss. We will miss Kevin so much, and this town lost one of its brightest rising stars today.”

He was born in 1979 in New York City, where he went on to study film at Columbia University before entering the industry, growing the first company he worked for, First Look Studios, from four to over 150 employees during his time there. He worked for several others before co-founding his own in 2018.

Turen also produced Ti West’s trilogy featuring X, Pearl and MaXXXine. He cofounded his production company, Little Lamb Productions, with Ashley and Sam Levinson, the latter of whom has found himself embroiled in a number of controversies.

Under their guidance, Euphoria racked up 25 Emmy noms, taking home nine awards across just two seasons. A third is expected to begin production shortly now that the SAG-AFTRA strike is over. The Idol, however, was canceled after one season.

Amongst many other projects, Turen also produced the viral Nicolas Cage and Pedro Pascal film The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent.
