Ester egg hunts for kids and adults, live music among 10 things to do in Galesburg

While it's not quite Easter weekend yet, you'll have a chance to celebrate early this weekend in the Galesburg area with a chance to paint some eggs or hang out with the Easter Bunny in general.

Here are some things to do this weekend in Galesburg.

Glow in the Dark Easter Egg Hunt

What: This hunt is about the experience, not a race to pick up the most eggs, so all glow eggs will be turned in at the end of the hunt and all hunters will get a goodie bag and a foam light up glow stick. Hunt will be held, rain or shine, on the multipurpose courts with court lights shut off (nearby tennis court lights will be left on for ambient light). All ages will hunt at same time. Eggs collected will be turned in, so parental assistance is allowed.

When: 5 to 6 p.m. Friday, March 22

Where: Lakeside Recreation Facility, 1033 S. Lake Storey, Galesburg

Cost: $5

Trivia Fundraiser American Cancer Society

What: All proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society. Reservations suggested, but walk-in teams allowed. $20 for 10 mulligans, and if you donate an item for the American Cancer Society's Hope Lodge, you'll receive an extra mulligan (1 per team). Donation suggestions: garbage bags, paper towels or laundry soap. A doubler sticker will be for sale for $10 which doubles your score for one round.

When: 6:30 p.m. Friday, March 22 (doors open at 5:30 p.m.)

Where: Cedar Creek Hall, 571 E. North St., Galesburg

Cost: $100 per team (up to 10 per team)

Augustana Symphonic Band Concert

What: The Augustana Symphonic Band, directed by James Lambrecht, tours the Midwest in March, kicking it off at Galesburg High School.

When: 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, March 22

Where: Galesburg High School, 1135 W. Fremont St., Galesburg

Cost: Free; freewill donations accepted

Underglaze Decal Mug

What: Apply floral decals to the surface and finishing off the cup with glaze. Choose any color of glaze you wish.

When: 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 22

Where: Art Defined, 306 E. Simmons St., Galesburg

Egg Hunt & Play

What: After the egg hunt, there will be crafts and open play. Baskets will be provided. Each child will receive a gift bag in exchange for eggs at the end of the hunt. Big prizes such as play passes, punch cards and party discounts are hidden in eggs. The egg hunt is for ages 5 and younger. Limited space; please pre-register.

When: 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 22; 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday, March 23 and Sunday, March 24

Where: The Play Yard, 705 S. Broad St., Knoxville

Cost: $15; $7 per child for members; adults are free; limit 2 adults per child

Senior Studios: Ebru (Turkish Paper Marbling)

What: Explore the mesmerizing, centuries-old art of Ebru – Turkish paper marbling. Create intricate, vibrant patterns on the water's surface and seamlessly transfer them to your own paper. Each step provides an opportunity to experiment with colors, shapes and patterns to create your own distinct marbled masterpiece. All materials provided.

When: 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, March 23

Where: Galesburg Community Arts Center, 349 E. Main St., Galesburg

Cost: Free for area seniors; $10 deposited required for participation that will be returned upon class completion.

Brain Boosting Mushrooms

What: Learn about medicinal mushrooms and how they can improve cognitive health. Rob Seeman, Host Defense mushroom expert, will join from Chicago to share his wisdom and answer questions. For up-to-date information, visit the Facebook event page.

When: 2 to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, March 23

Breakfast with the Easter Bunny

What: Come for Hy-Vee's Easter Bunny breakfast, coloring pages, Easter Bunny visit and cookie decorating.

When: 8 to 11 a.m. Saturday, March 23

Where: Hy-Vee, 2030 E. Main St., Galesburg

Cost: $10; $5 for breakfast buffet for children ages 12 and younger

Trivia Night

What: This Trivia Night for either pros or newcomers is hosted by Nursing Professional Practice Council. Expect a mix of difficulty levels. There will be a mix of questions and music. Big Catz will have food and drinks for purchase. There will also be a bake sale. Prizes await the top and bottom teams.

When: 6 p.m. Saturday, March 23

Where: Big Catz BBQ, 221 E. E. Main St., Knoxville

Cost: $120 for table; $15 for single ticket

RAA Brunch and Adult Easter Egg Hunt

What: An egg hunt but for the adults over 21. Snag 5 of the 250 eggs spread all over that are holding a variety of prizes including candy, gift cards, merch, drinks, beer, food, beer flights and one bus pass membership. Brunch plates and drinks/bottomless drinks without the egg hunt will be available for purchase at the event also.

When: 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, March 24

Where: Reserve Artisan Ales, 185 S. Kellogg St., Galesburg

Cost: $35; includes egg hunt, brunch plate and bottomless mimosa or Bloody Mary drink package
